Another great post, @chron! Such an important topic. I have to say that I DO believe there is some form of bot algorithm at work on steemit. There are certain topics that definitely do not get visibility/upvotes and they have a definite pattern. I wish it wasn't so, but I have absolutely observed it. It is because Steemit is made to make the rich richer, it's like normal life!
You have to push a certain agenda to maximize profits, it's bidness really!
