Survey #4: Are your followers active?
Did you know that over 80% of all your followers are “dead” accounts? I stumbled across that statistic while doing some random sampling. Anybody can do it. Just go to anyone’s profile page and click on “Followers” and go to the middle of the list. Then start looking at the last time those followers posted something. My threshold was 1 year ago. Over 80% of my random sampling’s most recent activity was over a year ago! That’s amazing! And the further you get into anybody’s list of followers, the longer the time since their last activity.
So, if you’ve got 5,000 followers, you’ve really got only 1,000. 😕
Of course, there are many ways to arrive at these same figures. @arcange regularly publishes statistics that lead to the same conclusion. Industry wide, that is to say in all social media’s forms, the statistics seem to be the same.
Are 8 out of 10 of your followers long gone? What can we do to turn this around and make Steemit the exception that everyone wants to have?
Looking forward to seeing your comments and suggestions.
Cheers,
