I Left A Pencil Line In The Piece.
I actually went heavy with a pencil early, early, early on, and I was like, so when you use Copic pens and stuff like that, they show any groove in the paper or anything like that. It wasn't actually that I was drawing on that piece of paper; I actually made the mistake of drawing on a piece of paper above. I was writing something, and I left a pencil line in the piece.
I was like, I started, you know, inking over a spot, and I'm like, what the hell is this? I was like, I was so bugged, and it dawned on me; I'm like, I was on top. Ah, oh no. But, yeah, I have been looking at that one, the watercolor. I didn't know if it was your watercolor or whatever, the one on the right side with the helicopter. Yes, that's an interesting piece.
So it's a photo from the Vietnam War, but it's a very, so like, I wanted something that was obscure if I was going to do conflict work from Vietnam. It is a photo that was released by Russia; that was propaganda photos taken by, you know, the communist Chinese party for promoting arms from Russia.
They literally had a photo of these guys right in front of a fire base, and it was, you know, like, there's only one spot that it was ever released. I just happened on it, and I was like, yeah, I like that one. You know, like, a lot of my stuff comes from like National Geographic or what not, and I get a lot of inspiration that way. But, this one was just in an archive of photos from the war, and I was like, oh man, I like that.
