So It's The Same Thing

I could not teach, I remember I was teaching eliminated manuscripts as a format of calligraphy, and I had three administrators, now bear with me, I was teaching first or fifth grade that day, fourth grade or fifth grade, elementary school, and we were learning how to do calligraphy, and I was talking about these eliminated manuscripts and all that stuff, and the stories behind it, and who did it and where they did it, and they started using those fonts, those old Gothic, whatever, old English fonts and all that, and creating their own name in it and all that. That's all we were doing, making nameplates, and I had three administrators at the door, who told me to stop the project, literally, called me out in the middle of the whole project, saying I had to stop it, because the letters that they were using, people who had the name with S or something, apparently it was a local gang symbol, name, color, whatever it was, it was representing a local gang, gang as in the way we know gang now, and I was in a school that was in a very rough area, a Taiwan school, and there were a lot of gang members in that area, it was like a, not just they were there or there, there's night, every night there's drive-by shootings, our kids would go into whatever, and some of, it's their family business, literally, watching all the gang members walking through without the motorbikes. And so a simple thing as a beauty of art that was manuscript writing, I had to cut that whole thing.

And I explained to the kids why, because I like to explain why, I don't like to just say, no, it's because, no, not because I said it, or not because the principal walked in the room, and I explained to them the concept of contemporary world, of certain words that you may have heard your mom and dad say, but we can't say it now. You're the bomb now, we'll go straight into the airport, and my God, you'll have all the dogs looking at you and taking you to the side. So it's the same thing.
