It sounds like Mariana Mazzucato would really appreciate the concept behind steem. In some ways it is exactly what they are describing, already working in the real world lol
One of her previous book was The Entrepreneurial State, with some arguments over that the iPhone is actually fundamentally powered by the funding and risk-taking of the state. Kinda difficult denying it, so will see what the book is about ;)
