Mi bandera - My Flag
From an early age, we are taught to love our national symbols — those emblems that carry the essence of the Homeland wherever they appear, the ones that identify us, as in my case, as Cuban in any corner of the world. As children, we embrace them without yet knowing their history or the difficult journey that shaped them into the representation of an entire people and its culture. Over time, that affection grew, passed down year after year, generation after generation, from our ancestors to the present. Little by little, their story expanded, their meaning deepened, and each of us learned to recognize ourselves in what they represent.
