Upgrading VPS from Ubuntu18.04 to Ubuntu20.04
I just realized that the backup node on Contabo is still running Ubuntu 18.04, which means this VPS has been in service for quite a few years. I’ve always been hesitant to touch it because it hosts steemd, and I did not want to risk breaking a working node.
But this Contabo upgrade opportunity is pushing me to finally do it properly. Since Ubuntu does not support jumping directly from 18.04 to 24.04, the VPS has to be upgraded step by step.
So the journey starts with upgrading from Ubuntu 18.04 to Ubuntu 20.04.
