First withdrawal from Steemit // A GIFT FOR MOM!?

Many people have written about their first withdrawals from Steemit blockchain and what they did with the money. I always find these posts interesting, because it is interesting to know what people have been longing to buy and what opportunities Steemit has given them. Because let's be honest, first earned bucks from Steemit are meant to fulfill some dreams, right?

LET'S PUT MY DREAMS ASIDE

As much as I'd like to fulfill my dreams at some point I have to admit that I have all of the basic things, I guess. For example, my Samsung Galaxy S5 is a pretty old model of the smartphone, but since it still runs okay I don't really see the point of switching that out. I mean, of course, I would like to, but buying a 1000€ smartphone if the current one is working and still looking good, is something that I just can't do. I like to spend money thoughtfully and as I think of this, it's not currently a needed expense.

I bought my S5 pretty spontaneously because I found myself in a situation where I couldn't upload any pictures to Instagram with my old phone. This wasn't something that was needed to do, but this was the sign for me that the phone is not up-do-date with its specifications anymore and it would be best to invest in a new one. This was a right decision. But the thing is.. as I bought myself a new phone my mom got that old phone.

You can only imagine how slowwww and outdated that old phone is if it even couldn't open up Instagram in 2015. Last Christmas my mom needed my help with some phone settings and I must say I did a simple thing in the settings for about 15 minutes, because the phone was just so slow that it loaded every screenpage for a minute. This was the moment that I realized that my mom could really use a faster phone.

MY OLD IS HER NEW... OR WAS

I remember having this deal with my mom for a really long time - whenever I buy a new phone, she gets my old one. She just doesn't need the top-notch things and to her my old is her new. She even told me at one point that she would like a faster phone so I should buy a new one so she could get my current one and I said that I don't really need to buy a newer one, sadly, because they are pretty expensive and I am still satisfied with my current Galaxy S5.

But this idea got into my head a lot. I want my mom to have a better phone because it is just so sad to look at her using that old slow junk. I have been looking into different models of phones to get myself so she could get the old one, but none of them seems attractive to me. I guess I really just don't feel a need to upgrade my phone right now or waste money on that.

This again got me into thinking that... wait! I have been earning some extra money thanks to @dlive on Steemit and this would be the perfect time to make the first widthdrawal and use the money to buy my mom a birthday gift - A COMPLETELY NEW PHONE!

MOM'S BIRTHDAY GIFT

Guess what! Today is my mom's birthday! I have never gifted her anything expensive because I couldn't afford it and I know that to her it is more important that I go home for the birthday than to get a gift. But she has given so much to me and my daughter. She is always willing to spend her last dime on us and she doesn't really buy things to herself. She just gives and gives and noone really gives to her.

Since her requirements for the phone aren't big, there was no need to go overboard with the phone and I picked out Huawei P9 Lite mini for her. I bought the phone and already set it up for her, so when she receives the gift she only needs to put her SIM-card in and the phone is ready to use right away.

I must say that the phone seemed really fast and good in my opinion and as I checked it out a bit, it felt being on the same level as my Galaxy S5 could be. The specs don't match, but the speed of running things was the same so I guess she will be really satisfied. I am even a little envious over the phone, because it looks so beautiful. I picked out the white-gold one and it doesn't look cheap at all. It looks like the top-tier phones do and 5-inch screen size is just perfect - not too big and not too small.

I have this inexplicable happy feeling inside that my mom can get a NEW phone and she doesn't have to wait until I buy a new one to get the old, used one. She definitely deserves to get a new one and I can't wait for the weekend when I go to her and give her the gift. ♥♥♥

Thank you Steemit and @dlive for giving me this amazing opportunity to be able to do such a gift for my mom! This really is an amazing feeling!

Have you withdrawn money from Steemit? What did you do with it?
If you havent, what would you like to spend it on when you get there?

Nice, I love my Huawei.

My friend has P10 and is really satisfied and so far I haven't been disappointed in the P9 mini as well and this only means that my mom definitely wont be! :D
I mean.. I can't remember the model she has and I had back then, but it's something from LG which was a cheap-tier phone back in 2012 so it is like really slow by now.

I sincerely recommend phones from OnePlus 👍
They have modified Android system

Yeah I know those and heard good about them, but IDK if they sell them in Estonia. I mean.. when I get an idea, I want to make the purchase asap. I don't like to order and wait if possible. :(

Oneplus is available in all our mayor mobile carriers like Elisa, Telia etc.. 😊

Maybe it was not in the 200€ pricerange then, because there wasn't a need to spend more. :D

Oneplus starting @ 500€ and yeah it`s pretty top notch phone, too fast for moms 😃

Depends on mom's needs, but mine only needs to be able to call and check facebook. :D I mean.. she is satisfied with the current one saying "well I am not in a hurry, I can wait a few seconds" when loading up contacts list or something. :'D

A very nice post! It's nice that you brought out that you haven't given her anything expensive yet because in my opinion, a gift that comes from the heart is the best gift! :)

True, but I am not a good gift-giver and I think this might be just the first gift over a while which comes from the heart. ;D

This is such a nice thing from you, to give your mother a new phone instead of buying one for yourself. I admire your decision and I wonder how will she react when she will get the new phone :)

Your post makes me remember about your first posts of introduceyourself when you were writing about yourself as a reply to the commenters questions. I think that I never asked you about your daughter and first time when I have read and you mentioned that you had a child I believed that I may be misunderstanding. Can I ask you, if it is okay for you, how does it feels to be a parent?

Yeah same, because I guess she is just waiting to get my current one and I don't think she could ever imagine getting a completely new one. :D

Parenting... I don't know what to answer here. I guess the answer should be hard or difficult or something, because well sometimes it is - it's inevitable. But then again I've been really lucky in that department. Not many sleepless nights even when she was a baby and even now I think she is so kind and nice person, so there are not many troubles with her at all. I'd say parenting is like having the best friend living with you or maybe I just don't know how to be a parent. But we have so much fun together that idk.. everything just flows... :D

It sounds so great, I am happy for you especially because you have a good relationship with your daughter. Can I ask you how old is she?

She is 4. The perfect age so she isn't tired from my hugs yet. :'D

I am so happy for you, I hope you will enjoy every moment around her and that she will make you a proud mother!

I'm sure your mom would've been happy even with your phone, but with a completely new phone (and more important: the care behind it) that happiness will probably bring even some joyful tears to her eyes. :)

I want to buy a smartphone too and it will be probably a Xiaomi Redmi 5A. Although I never had one, my brother and lots of my friends have various Xiaomi phones, and none of them had a single complaint about them. They are really good quality phones with great battery life and they are pretty cheap too. The phone I mentioned is ~105-110$ here and it comes with the same specs like the Huawei you bought to your mom. Of course, I'm not sure if these are available in Estonia, but if they are, it's worth to check them out. Perhaps after your next withdraw. :)

Yeah she would've been fine with getting the old one, but I mean.. if I had the opportunity I felt she should get a new one, not settle down for old phones all the time. :D

I've seen Xiaomi's in our stores, but I guess Estonians are skeptical about them. I mean.. even Huawei isn't much on the common prefered list to be honest, but as I have heard from my friends and read the reviews it seemed enough trustworthy to buy. I am looking forward to your Xiaomi review at one point! :D

"I've seen Xiaomi's in our stores, but I guess Estonians are skeptical about them. "
Yeah, I can understand why. The name can scare away a lot of people, I guess the same goes for Huawei. In the past Chinese products were known for notoriously bad quality, but I think that changed a bit in a good way in the last few years (I could mention Lenovo for example).

Among my friends, there are 2 "smartphone enthusiasts", who had lots of phones in the past. Since they've got their first Xiaomi's, they change only for newer/more expensive Xiaomi's. My little brother has one since last summer and he really likes it (Actually I bought it for him, it's a Redmi 4X. Nowadays for 16 years olds, it's really important to have a nice phone, and even though I'm not a big fan of this tendency, he deserves it anyway, because he is a smart little fella. :) He was really happy when he got it, just like your mom will be! :)). For me, these things are really convincing. I think it's good to be a little skeptical of everything, but as you said, your friends' opinion and reading reviews can help a lot before you buy something.

"I am looking forward to your Xiaomi review at one point! :D"
Oh, I hadn't thought of that! But yeah, it's a good idea! I'll probably get my phone in the next 1-2 weeks, so after a month of testing, I'll probably make a little review about it. Well, this post is a little bit "Tl;dr", sorry for that, haha.

Have a nice weekend with your mom! :)

Yeah I looked at some Xiaomi phones and the design is really good. Haven't heard about reviews that much though. I mean.. trustworthy ones. :D Everything from the internet can't be taken for good, because some reviews could be bought etc. :D
But yeah.. it's definitely a post idea here. ;)

so nice you put your own wants and needs on hold for something for your mother. that's so awesome.

Yah, I am so excited myself. Yesterday I called mom to wish her a happy birthday and told that I can't wait to go visit and give her the gift. I am 100% sure she doesn't see THIS coming. :D
I've always gifted books or face cremes or something from that price range, so yeah :D

she will be STOKED. well done you! :) also, saw your from estonia. i've got an e-residency card from there as i want to come there to setup a business account there and hang out around tallinn around the startup companies a little.

I don't know anything about this e-recidency ID card though, because we all have the digital ID cards anyway which are mandatory. I guess it's cool that Estonia is offering people around the world to get started with us or something like that.. hahhah. Wow.. I really don't know anything about that stuff, but I hope it workes out the best way for you. :D

it's the same card but it's open to anyone that applies for it. i think maybe 25k people have it now, i'm one of them! :) i started an account on here for talking about it and i hope to get to estonia this year to setup my bank account at https://www.lhv.ee/en ;)

I just recently opened up a LHV account as well, hehe but thanks to the E-identity we have here I was able to do that just from the computer and have all the needed papers digitally signed.
If I may ask, how did you found out about such feature Estonia offers or why the decision to do this with Estonia as I guess you are not tied with Estonia any other way... :D

i've been interested in digital id for a long time and when i found out that estonia was opening up it's general public as part of an e-residency program i went and visited the embassy in london and got my card :)

i have many reasons, one is that if we brexit i want to still be able to do business in the EU, i'm not tied with anything estonia yet no, who knows in the future thou if i can startup a business there, that would give me banking in the EU and the ability to travel back and forth there for business in and around the EU.

Yeah really cool! You should make a post about it or something. It's so strange to hear that someone outside is so excited about the features we can offer. :P

This is awesome, it feels amazing to give back to the ones that created you ^.^ Also i like this idea of writing the first thing you bought after your first cash out. I will have to do one of these if i ever take any SBD/STEEM out of the platform :D <3
