In a space of deep reflection

I peeled the layers away. Each one diligently till I got to the sparkly interior that was covered up.

As days passed I noticed cracks. There was more underneath. I kept at it.

This continued for days, weeks, months, years.

I had become so accustomed to it. I felt empowered by my ability to go deeper.

The depth was great, but I realised I missed a cruicial aspect of the whole idea. I forgot to see that all that was flaked off was fluff, dust, nothing.

These will continue to build and peel.

There is something far more constant, real and tangible within. A presence, a source of strength. Words, concepts, ideas do not exist.

Nothing exists here, yet it is pregnant with LIFE. There is more to THIS than all that WAS or is YET TO BE.

The flaking continues - it seems it will. But the process was never about getting to the bottom of it. The idea was to recognise the flakes were never real.

Let us not cherish the dust, making real that which was not. Let us instead focus on what IS while the dust falls away.
