Ø18: Three More Days!
Øutput 18
Just a short one today as I've only got three more days of the 7-day story challenge and I've got SO much work to do! I've got a fresh pot of coffee on the go, my music lined up, timer clicking away, and 3 more stories to finish.
Let's do this ...
The Other Stories Write-A-Thon
I really struggled yesterday and only managed 1000 words. Cat went in for her operation so I think my mind was all over the place. Still, 1000 words is a 1000 words is a 1000 words.

IDEA 120: PILLS.
Maybe a children's story?
There's an incredibly lonely man who keeps swallowing people he meets and washing them down with a glass of water. He doesn't ask for permission. At the first sign that a person may like him in any way whatsoever, he picks them up, opens up his mouth extra wide, and throws them in like a pill, and he washes them down.
The only thing is, these people don't like being swallowed.
At night-time, they gather up somewhere inside and give him a telling off.
"I'm just so lonely," he cries.
But it's only after one the people he's swallowed talks to the man and makes a genuine connection does he finally let them out.
-- Imagine the visuals of a man's mouth opening real wide to swallow someone. I quite like kids storytelling techniques used to talk about adult themes. There's something oddly horrific about them.
Profits made from this blog will go right into my ramen fund. Any more will go right into any future storytelling projects.
Oo oo ... go grab a free book!
Personality disorder... I would go for the not so happy ending :) But I like the idea.
In the fabulous children's-books by the Finnish author Tove Jansson, there exist a very, very eerie female creature called Mårran. She walk the ice-covered sea and is attracted to everything varm. But when she gets close enough to other living creatures, she sits on them and they freeze to death.
The friendly, but somewhat introvert, other creatures in the book fell sorry for he, but there is no way of connecting with her. There is this fantastic scene where she is attracted to a kerosene lamp. She sit on it and all becomes dark. People or things is just the same to her. A source of warmth.
Mårran is half a force of nature and half a psychopath woman, you never really knows
Wow I love that idea! There's so much wild creativity in children's stories. It's like it's communicating on some deeper subconscious level.
Is she in the Moomin books? I used to love those as a kid, and her story seems familiar.
Yes, it from the Moomin books, and related books in the same universe.
Ah I feel like I missed out!
They are translated to English and they do not take long to read. But of course, if you by miss out mean that you will not be sitting as a 6-7 year old child scared to death over the strange ways of the introvert Finnish people, I can see your point :)
