About 2500 years ago, Plato warned that "Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, from wings to the mind, it allows the imagination to fly, gives charm and joy to all things, to life itself." But One of the great initiates of ancient Greece forgot to mention that, as the old adage says, music is medicine. 

 There is an intangible but powerful experience that occurs when we listen to music, especially when it comes to the music we love. It can transport us and transform us into altered states of consciousness, immediately affecting our mood. 

The American Society of Hypertension, found that just listening to 30 minutes of relaxing music, has actually been achieved decrease blood pressure in individuals clinically diagnosed with hypertension.

Many of us have used music to alter our mood at some point. Maybe we even used it to process an unpleasant situation: tuning in to a favorite song that was shared with an ex, or a song that reminds you of a deceased parent, a brother or friend.

These experiences are purifying, they help us to live and move in the midst of a feeling of sadness. Much music itself was born of difficulties, losses, pain and, although we should not directly say it, in a song about depression we can put our own pain and frustration, however, it will help us to get rid of it too.

 And of course, music can also get us out of our suffering states. A study published in Nature Neuroscience found that the chemical dopamine, very good for personal well-being, had been released into the subject's brain during the extremely pleasant moments experienced while listening to music. They recorded a nine percent increase in dopamine production while listening to music especially pleasing to their ears, reducing depression by as much as 25 percent.
