Redstone basics for minecraft. lesson 1
So you want to learn about redstone huu? well this lesson is starting at the very beginning so if your not just starting this isn't for you. so now ill explain what redstone is. redstone dust is a kind of wire. but most people say redstone and they mean all things redstone. so you can use redstone for making machines such as elevators, pumkin farms and piston doors. so here is a list of things that send a redstone pulse to power your machines.a
Lever, button, redstone torch, pressure plates, observers, redstone blocks. trip wire hooks, daylight sensors and trap chests.
so you can use all theses things to power your redstone machines but all these things have different uses. so now ill talk about all the uses for all these tools then we will talk about all the other tools. so starting with levers, they have a on side and a off side and. as you can guess the on side sends power to what ever you and it wired too. and the off side turns the power off. but a lever is not a full block so there for it can not stand on its own, it needs to be placed on a block so if you have is on the side of a block it will send a pulse through the block. too the redstone or the repeaters or what every you have it setup with, now on too the button.
so the button when you click it it sends a pulse through the block its on. and there is 2 kinds of buttons. there's a wooden button and there's a stone button. the wooden button sends a pulse for 1.5 seconds then turns off. and the stone button sends a pulse for 1 second then turns off. and it also needs to be placed on a block to work.
Now the redstone torch the redstone torch sends a never ending pulse as long as it is placed. now there is some really cool tricks we can do with this in the future. but for now were sticking with the basics, and the redstone torch also needs to be placed on a block.
Now the pressure plate. so how the pressure plate works is by placing it on the ground and stepping in it. Now there are 4 different kinds of pressure plates. Wooden, stone, golden and iron. these are different because is take more pressure the higher end pressure plate you make. the wooden pressure plate it really easy to activate. you only need an entity on top of it. like a item a animal a player pretty much anything. The stone is the same except you cant drop items on it to activate the pulse. The golden pressure plates take 1 entity for 1 redstone to have a pulse. because redstone only go's 15 blocks. But we will talk more about that later.
now the iron pressure plate only go's 1 block every 10 entity's.
And now on too observers blocks. Observers use block updates to send a pulse, what is a block update you might ask? well a block update well its pretty much how it sounds. when you place a block or press a button or something that changes the look of somthing is a block update. its needs to update to place that block or change that lever or somthing like that. and if you ake a block update in front of it. you may want to know what the front is well take a look.
So you want to do the block update in front of there face. and the pulse will come out the back of the observers.
so now redstone block redstone blocks are simple you place them anywere and all you need to do is place redstone or a redstone lap or something next to that accepts redstone pulses.
Ahh trip wires so trip wires have 2 parts. 1 is the hooks, 2 is the wire. The hook you have to place on a block then you need to put another block in front of it some were and then put another hook on that block too. then you put stringin front of the both hooks too connect them. and when you step on the string a pulse will get sent out of the blocks the hooks are on.
Now day light sensors these are cool. so they have 2 modes 1 daytime mode, and 2 night time mode. the day time mode makes it so you get power from the sun light. and the night time mode makes it so you get power from moon light. and the night mode sensors will turn off during the day and the day mode sensors will turn off during the night. And you just hook redstone up next too the sensors and your good.
And last and probably the least the trap chest. The trap chest is just like a normal chest, except when you open the chest it will send a redstone pulse from the chest. and when you close it the pulse will turn off.
and now ill will show you want everything I talked about looks like.![pulse tools.png)(
now there is 1 other thing that can send a pulse but that is a lot more complex so i will talk about that in a future lesson.
