Is Blogging Really A Skill And Not A Talent? What's Your Take?

in #blog8 years ago (edited)

I am still bugged by the meaning of talent in the dictionary. The first meaning entry when I searched on dictionary.com, the term refers to the innate ability or aptitude. But likewise, it refers to the capacity for success or attainment and the talented person. The most remarkable meaning, perhaps, of that term came from the parable on a Bible passage, inferring to the term as “a power of mind or body considered as given to a person for use and improvement.

Taking those meanings, I’ve come to conclude that blogging is never a talent but a skill.

Why skill?

Skill refers to the acquired talent or ability. But there is still the term, talent.

Making a logic on that context reminds me of my lesson in philosophy back in college about univocal and equivocal. If applying the elements of blogging, skill and talent in a logical sentence, this may come out…

If blogging is a skill

And skill is an acquired talent,

Then, blogging is a talent.

I think I may have messed up something here. If you happen to read this and you are a philosopher or philosophy major, then you can make corrections. I may have to do some corrections after when I redo my study in logic. But for now, I’ll stick with this.

I have to rebut that statement, if it comes up as “true” based on corrections.

It is because I always consider blogging as a skill. But why?

Simple, it can’t be a talent because you don’t have to be a genius or gifted to learn it.

Moreover, with the advancement of technology and the simplification of things in the digital world, almost everybody can sign up for a blog and become a blogger.

When I asked my friend of their perception about a blogger, their first reply was that a blogger is a writer. But no, not all bloggers are writers. However, it has presented an opportunity for non-writers to be writers and while those writers can become published writers.

Although many people become passionate about blogging and it requires passion to be a pro on this, I have not encountered nor have known a blogger in which he or she considered blogging as a talent. Or perhaps, I haven’t brought depth to my research.

This is just my point when it comes to blogging. I still say blogging is a skill, not a talent.

Now it's your turn.

Is BLOGGING a TALENT or SKILL?

Very doubtful

Hi! I'm a bot, and this answer was posted automatically. Check this post out for more information.

There are many talented bloggers who write about their passions they may not necessarily have the best command of the language but they make up with their passion and joy of what they are doing.

Some bloggers are very skillful in a sense they can make you feel that you are right there.

Both have their pros and cons but to me blogging is about sharing your insights to the best you can and hopefully your audience will take it.
