BEING CALLED BACK TO BETHEL

"THEN GOD SAID TO JACOB, “ARISE, GO UP TO BETHEL AND DWELL THERE; AND MAKE AN ALTAR THERE TO GOD, WHO APPEARED TO YOU WHEN YOU FLED FROM THE FACE OF ESAU YOUR BROTHER." "
Genesis 35:1 (NKJV)

• God is calling you back to Bethel, the place of encounter. One of the main reasons why God did ask Jacob to go back to Bethel is that He may fulfil His promise in his life (Genesis 28:15).
a. Bethel is a place of encounter, where God revealed Himself to Jacob and made a covenant with him (Genesis 28:12-15).
b. It also means the house of God (Genesis 28:17).

• God's presence was there in Bethel, but It was unknown to Jacob until he had an encounter with God in his dream (Genesis 28:16).
• This is particularly applicable to whoever, a believer who has been consecrative, dedicatedly walking with God; who had one time or the other had an encounter with God, in which God's plan or will or agenda for his or her life is made known to him or her.
• God may flexibly allow you to be wandering about for a while, doing whatever you want or like, but there would be a time which God would want you to settle down and make a commitment to what He had revealed to you about your life—in order to bring it to a fulfilment.
• At the time of God's flexibility which the wandering about is permitted or allowed, It could be overextended by someone If the person could not discipline the self and promptly answer when God is nudging or calling him or her back.
• Some who are permitted to operate out of God's purpose or plan for a while, eventually overindulged their flesh, because they have tasted the good things of life. They thought It would be a too much of sacrifice to leave those things in the world for the fulfilment of God's original purpose or plan for their lives:
  24 IT WAS BY FAITH THAT MOSES, WHEN HE GREW UP, REFUSED TO BE CALLED THE SON OF PHARAOH'S DAUGHTER. 25 HE CHOSE TO SHARE THE OPPRESSION OF GOD'S PEOPLE INSTEAD OF ENJOYING THE FLEETING PLEASURES OF SIN. 26 HE THOUGHT IT WAS BETTER TO SUFFER FOR THE SAKE OF CHRIST THAN TO OWN THE TREASURES OF EGYPT, FOR HE WAS LOOKING AHEAD TO HIS GREAT REWARD" (Hebrews 11:24-26 NLT).

7 BUT WHAT THINGS WERE GAIN TO ME, THESE I HAVE COUNTED LOSS FOR CHRIST.
8 YET INDEED I ALSO COUNT ALL THINGS LOSS FOR THE EXCELLENCE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF CHRIST JESUS MY LORD, FOR WHOM I HAVE SUFFERED THE LOSS OF ALL THINGS, AND COUNT THEM AS RUBBISH, THAT I MAY GAIN CHRIST."
Philippians 3:7,8 (NKJV)

• Those who overstayed in their time of wandering, when God was flexible with them, later regretted of what they did.

• Humans, being a time Being, should always be conscious of God's timing in His programme or plan for their lives.
• At the time that some people wanted to go back to their Bethel, to fulfil the encounter they had with God over the years, It was too late. They had overstayed in the wandering stage, the time of flexibility which God permitted them to do whatever they are doing.
• It is either God has given the assignment they were supposed to do to another person, or what they were to do is obsolete, God had moved on beyond that stage. Thus, such a person loses his or her relevance! They are no longer needed for what they were meant to do.
• The calling back to Bethel is for the fulfilment of God's original intended purpose. Promptness is important If you would not miss it.

• God promises to monitor or pay continued close attention—watch, keep track of, or check—Jacob's movement.

• As God did promise Jacob to keep watch over him, He is interested in your own affairs as well. Because you are a child of destiny, God is interested in your life and things about you in general, thus, He is keeping track of your life.
• When you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, a covenant or agreement is made with God so to speak.
  It actually means that you have pledged your allegiance to God, to be loyal and submissive to Him in all things—in every affair of your life. In short, It was a deal!
• In this deal with God, the purpose of your life is made known to you—fully discovered by you. Then, If you are allowed at all to be doing other things; that should be for a while.
• If at the time you supposed to respond totally to what you are meant to do, but you lagged behind or completely disobeyed; when you would think you are ready to do it, you may have eventually lost your relevance.

• Now, concerning you and God's purpose—the assignment:
"BEHOLD, I AM WITH YOU AND WILL KEEP YOU WHEREVER YOU GO, AND WILL BRING YOU BACK TO THIS LAND; FOR I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU UNTIL I HAVE DONE WHAT I HAVE SPOKEN TO YOU" (Genesis 38:15 NKJV).

• God would be the One ordering your feet, where you go, where you live, school or work. God has a reason why He has allowed you to be wherever you may find yourself because He is ordering your feet for His intended purpose (Esther 4:14)
• You may devise a plan of your own, what you like to do or who you like to be, but It is God's counsel or plan alone that would stand—especially If you are ordained for a special purpose in His kingdom on the earth: "PEOPLE CAN MAKE ALL KINDS OF PLANS, BUT ONLY THE LORD'S PLAN [purpose] WILL HAPPEN" (Proverbs 19:21 New Century Version).

• You will not fail in Jesus' name.

• The power to fulfil is released and imparted to you in Jesus' name.
• Should there be any ailment in your body, such is rebuked and completely uprooted in Jesus' mighty name.

STEPS TO SALVATION
• Take notice of this:
IF you are yet to take the step of salvation, that is, yet to be born-again, do it now, tomorrow might be too late (2 Corinthians 6:1,2; Hebrews 3:7,8,15).
a. Acknowledge that you are a sinner and confess your Sins (1 John 1:9); And ask Jesus Christ to come into your life (Revelation 3:20).
b. Confess that you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that you confess it with your mouth, Thus, you accept Him As your Lord and Saviour (Romans 10:9,10).
c. As you took the steps A and B your name is written in the Book of Life (Philippians 4:3; Revelation 3:8).
