14 'BUT IF YOU DO NOT OBEY ME, AND DO NOT OBSERVE ALL THESE COMMANDMENTS,
15 AND IF YOU DESPISE MY STATUTES, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant,
16 I ALSO WILL DO THIS TO YOU: I WILL EVEN APPOINT TERROR OVER YOU, WASTING DISEASE AND FEVER WHICH SHALL CONSUME THE EYES AND CAUSE SORROW OF HEART. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
17 I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you.
18 ‘AND AFTER ALL THIS, IF YOU DO NOT OBEY ME, THEN I WILL PUNISH YOU SEVEN TIMES MORE FOR YOUR SINS.
19 I will break the pride of your power; I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze.
20 AND YOUR STRENGTH SHALL BE SPENT IN VAIN; FOR YOUR LAND SHALL NOT YIELD ITS PRODUCE, NOR SHALL THE TREES OF THE LAND YIELD THEIR FRUIT."
Leviticus 26:14-20 (NKJV)

There are numbers of things that could be learnt in the commandments and statutes given to the Israelites which they are meant to be guided with.
These commandments and statutes, in principles, are applicable to the believers in Christ Jesus.
There are works of the law that are completely abolished because of the sacrificial death of Christ Jesus (Hebrews 7:18). But the principles that are meant to guide the lives of the Israelites, things to do in their relationship with God and how to relate with their fellow humans, those are not completely abolished.
Those principles are still in place and they should be observed. In fact, these principles or commandments are the foundational principles on which the laws or constitutions of many nations are formed or built; thus, they are not to be discarded outrightly. The God we serve is the God Who would start or begin a new thing but would not discard the old completely or outrightly.

In the passage of the Bible picked as the text of this teaching, there are numbers of things that God told the Israelites not to do, which was based on how they should live their lives; If they violated those things they would be disciplined or sanctioned.

In the Book of Leviticus chapter 26 from verse 1 to 13, God stated things He was going to do to them If they, the Israelites, obeyed Him, the blessings that would come on them. However, If they did disobey Him, the consequences of their disobedience would be grievous and calamitous. It was the consequences of the disobedience that are stated in the passage, Leviticus 26:14-28, which we use as the text for this teaching.

A number of things are said would be done by God If the Israelites disobeyed His commandments, His statutes, and If they abhorred or despised His judgements or principles set to guide them in how they live:
14 ‘BUT IF YOU DO NOT OBEY ME, AND DO NOT OBSERVE ALL THESE COMMANDMENTS, 15 AND IF YOU DESPISE MY STATUTES, OR IF YOUR SOUL ABHORS MY JUDGEMENTS, SO THAT YOU DO NOT PERFORM ALL MY COMMANDMENTS, BUT BREAK MY COVENANT, 16 I ALSO WILL DO THIS TO YOU: I WILL EVEN APPOINT TERROR OVER YOU, WASTING DISEASE AND FEVER WHICH SHALL CONSUME THE EYES AND CAUSE SORROW OF HEART. AND YOU SHALL SOW YOUR SEED IN VAIN, FOR YOUR ENEMIES SHALL EAT IT (Leviticus 26:14-16).

This shows us that If someone who claimed to be of God began to see some negative or strange things happening in his or her life, such should know that the hand of God is against him or her.

A lot of believers usually do not pay attention to a number of principles found in the Bible, because they do believe we are at the dispensation of Grace. God has overlooked that, that living contrary to such principles does not attract any discipline, repercussion, penalty or consequence. But, the truth is, these are principles, they are always in effect, they are like laws which If you violated, the consequences would surely be seen or experienced.

The principles are meant to guide and protect human lives. They are to make life be in order. Thus, If they are despised or lived contrary to, the consequences would surely be there or surfaced.

God gave instructions on how His people, the Israelites, should live that would make His blessings rest on them. However, If they disobeyed or rebelled against what He said or against His principles that are laid down, they will face His wrath—the consequences of their disobedience or rebellion.

You will not fail in Jesus' name.
Whatever is contrary to your wellness and healthiness is cursed and completely uprooted in Jesus' name.
Peace.

• Take notice of this:
IF you are yet to take the step of salvation, that is, yet to be born-again, do it now, tomorrow might be too late (2 Corinthians 6:1,2; Hebrews 3:7,8,15).
a. Acknowledge that you are a sinner and confess your Sins (1 John 1:9); And ask Jesus Christ to come into your life (Revelation 3:20).
b. Confess that you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that you confess it with your mouth, thus, you accept Him As your Lord and Saviour (Romans 10:9,10).
c. As you took the steps A and B your name is written in the Book of Life (Philippians 4:3; Revelation 3:8).

  • If you took the steps As highlighted above, congratulations, It means you are saved—born-again. Join a Word based church in your area and Town or city, and be part of whatever they are doing there. Peace!
