SIGNS THAT GOD IS ANGRY WITH SOMEONE 3
14 'BUT IF YOU DO NOT OBEY ME, AND DO NOT OBSERVE ALL THESE COMMANDMENTS,
15 AND IF YOU DESPISE MY STATUTES, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant,
16 I ALSO WILL DO THIS TO YOU: I WILL EVEN APPOINT TERROR OVER YOU, WASTING DISEASE AND FEVER WHICH SHALL CONSUME THE EYES AND CAUSE SORROW OF HEART. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
17 I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you.
18 ‘AND AFTER ALL THIS, IF YOU DO NOT OBEY ME, THEN I WILL PUNISH YOU SEVEN TIMES MORE FOR YOUR SINS.
19 I will break the pride of your power; I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze.
20 AND YOUR STRENGTH SHALL BE SPENT IN VAIN; for your land shall not yield its produce, nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruit."
Leviticus 26:14-20 (NKJV)
Negative things that happened in a believer's life are meant to communicate the mind of God to him or her. God wanted the person to know that He is angry with him or her, the believer. Whilst mostly or in many occasions, when a believer experiences favour or blessing, such should also know that God is pleased with him or her. Such favour or blessing should not be taken for granted, It should be duly acknowledged and be appreciated by acknowledging God as the Doer or Giver of the blessing and thank Him for it.
One could see in the passage of the text of this teaching that a number of terrible things said by God would happen to the Israelites, His people, If they lived contrary to His commandments or principles. God said that: I also will do this to you:
a. I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart. Diseases and sicknesses could be a sign of God's disfavour or anger (Leviticus 26:16).
b. You shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. When you are labouring or working for others to eat or benefit, It could also be a sign of God's wrath or anger (Leviticus 26:16).
c. I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies. In other words, those who hate them would be prevailing over them—they would lack favour in all they do. Mostly, being disfavoured where others are favoured is a sign of God's anger or annoyance (Leviticus 26:17).
d. Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you. It thus means they would be under oppression (Leviticus 26:17).
e. ‘And after all this, if you do not obey Me [repent or change], then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. In other words, the discipline or chastisement or punishment would be increased If the Israelites changed not (Leviticus 26:18).
f. I will break the pride of your power; I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze (Leviticus 26:19). When a believer is being disciplined and he or she seems to be indifferent to the punishment, It is considered a pride by God, that would make Him severer in His dealings with such a believer. Making heaven like brass and earth like bronze means the person would be unfruitful. Since their main or major means of livelihood then was farming, heaven like brass means there would be a drought, no rain, and the earth like brass means the land would not yield increase. Since the heavens would be shut, there definitely would be no moist for the soil to grow their plants.
g. And your strength shall be spent in vain; for your land shall not yield its produce, nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruit (Leviticus 26:20). This point is an offshoot of the previous point, when heaven is like brass and the earth like bronze (Leviticus 26:19). They would be labouring in vain, because the land would not yield its produce and the trees would be unfruitful.
In this contemporary time, a believer who is angry with by God would see himself or herself toiling in whatever they do for a living—vocations, businesses, and even if such is a salary earner. There would be borrowing and heavy indebtedness would be part of their lives.
The list is on and on; Leviticus 26:21-28. It is always a good thing to see the good side of God. His annoyance or anger or wrath should be avoided completely. And the major and only way to avoid His other side or His negative side is to obey His commandments, live in line with His Word, the Bible—walking in the light of His Word (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:1-3; James 1:22-25).
Thus, If any of the things that are listed in the Bible passage used as the text of this teaching is happening or manifesting in the life of a believer; such should quickly know that something is wrong between them and God.
You will not fail in Jesus' name.
Whatever is not planted in your body that is working against your wellness is rebuked and completely rooted out in Jesus' mighty name.
Peace.
