BLURT gains as sibling token HIVE fails to thrive

Hello, blockchain friends! Sorry I haven't been around lately. I'm still watching the markets! And yes, all cryptos are down. But HIVE is down the most, crashing to yet another brand new all-time low of 6 cents.

Anyone who has been holding HIVE since November 2021 is down over 98%. Ouch! And it's doing horribly against related tokens, as well...

BLURT is down from $0.00250 to $0.0013 (-48%) since the crypto crash and bear market kickoff in October.
HIVE is down from $0.2000 to $0.0606 (-70%) over the same time period!

BLURT is down from $0.0030 (-57%) in the past year.
HIVE is down from $0.31 (-80%)!

This rotation from HIVE into BLURT is visualized nicely on a BLURT:HIVE ratio chart. I don't know of any, but I've pieced together these rough images using Hive-Engine data:

Any way you measure it, HIVE has been getting its ass kicked by BLURT for about 2 years now. Indeed, HIVE failed to join the 2024 crypto bull market that was developing.

See the following all-time logarithmic USD chart:

HIVE performed well in the 2021 crypto bull market, and pulled back in a similar way to other cryptos in 2022. But in 2024, HIVE began underperforming. At first, most thought nothing of it. Some dismissed it as a temporary pullback, a buying opportunity, a glitch.

But when HIVE completely failed to experience a significant bull market in 2025, all Hell broke loose. Whales began powering down, traffic slowed, everyday bloggers eyed greener pastures, developers lost interest. As liquid HIVE became available, it was sold into the market, and the price dropped further.

In October, cryptos hit a new all-time high, and a bear market began. But at that point, HIVE wasn't at its all-time high... in fact, it was barely off rock bottom! Capitulation resulted, a dramatic 50% drop from 20 cents, only finding support at its all-time low of 10 cents.

In December I wrote "HIVE dropped under 10 cents today.. long-term support breached. If BTC pulls back from here, HIVE is going to spiral toward 7 cents."

The crypto bear market has gained momentum, following the cycle seen over the past 16+ years. Every 4 years there's a big red yearly candle on the crypto charts: 2014, 2018, 2022... and 2026 doesn't look like it will break that pattern. As Bitcoin and other cryptos pull back from highs, HIVE is collapsing to a new all-time low of 6 cents.

HIVE is a failed currency. The chart doesn't lie. The price doesn't lie. It's that worthless (and becoming worth less all the time) for a reason, and that can't just be brushed off. There's more HIVE right now than there has ever been before - 527 million, worth an unimpressive $32 million. A new all-time low (with no end in sight) while other cryptos are merely pulling back? Very bad sign, no matter how you want to dress it up. It's really bad.

Bitcoin recently fell to its lowest price in 15 months. HIVE fell to its ALL-TIME lowest price. Then again last week, and again today.

The majority of investors have fled from the Hive platform, and essentially only the downvote cabal remains. This is because...

They can't leave.

The power of the downvote cabal is actually a curse - they MUST continue to use it, or they will lose it (and everything they've clicked so hard to accumulate). They aren't still on Hive because they somehow believe in it, think it has a future, etc. No, they're still on Hive because they literally can't leave. The scourge of Hive - the very group that has acted for years to kill the goose that lays their golden egg - are now the only ones holding it together! It is a platform of negativity, downvoting, rivalry, "reputation", censorship, trickery, and corruption. The last remaining whales epitomize that ethos.

On these blockchain blogs, you can't delete all your past posts, comments, votes, profile, etc. The most anyone can do to leave the platform is to stop making new posts, comments, votes, etc. The old content remains, but fresh content, engagement, community, and rewards are near zero. Thousands of prominent Hive users have already disappeared, leaving just a few confused minnows, and the downvote cabal. Think of them not as whales but as sharks, circling the remaining accounts. Who will get the downvotes and other abuse next? Who will be forced off the platform so the sharks can take that tiny share of the dwindling reward pool?

There are many of us now, some of us having been robbed of tens of thousands of dollars, and we have not forgotten. The downvote cabal has to keep downvoting, has to keep destroying their platform, there's just nothing else they can do. If they power down, not only does their big weapon go away, but their ability to defend themselves does as well. The bullies will immediately become the bullied, and rightly so. Every post, every comment they make, will be downvoted by dozens of their former victims. Everything they do from here on will be grayed out. If they try to stay on the platform at all, they'll eventually hit 0 reputation, and all their past content will fade to gray as well. They'll finally get a taste of what they've been doing to so many thousands of us.

Being taken down isn't an option for the downvote cabal. They have to stay powered up, and they have to keep downvoting, or a) all their previous actions are called into question and b) they will be eaten alive by their former victims. They are trapped, which helps explain why they're pretty much the only investors still holding this dying token. They're giving HIVE a value of 6 cents pretty much all on their own.

The price is unlikely to fall all the way to zero - until the last remaining cabal members cave. There aren't a lot left at this point! Themarkymark and his several large projects (like buildawhale) make up a huge portion of the remaining investment. He's singlehandedly holding the currency up. Well, it's making new all-time lows every week, but you know what I mean. He's the main one keeping it off zero. Only a handful of other investors (some of which are sock puppets of the others) actually remain.

Which of them will surprise the others by selling first, to get a payout while there's any to be had? Until then, the price will likely continue losing 10%-20% every month.

What an uncomfortable and unenviable position to be in. And it couldn't be happening to a more deserving bunch. If nothing else, we victims of the Hive downvote cabal will, at the very least, get to watch them suffer and bleed out.

I don't know what happened to Hive/HIVE in 2024, but that seems to be when it all started going wrong for that blockchain and token. When the market's up, HIVE is flat, and when the market's down, HIVE is crashing to new lows. Now the community has been hollowed out, the desperate downvote cabal is circling the last few real users, and the token price is steadily marching toward zero.

Last time I mentioned TheSkidMark, his wallet was worth a measly $169k (down from several million a few years ago). Even though he's scheming as hard as he can, and keeping others down with his massive downvotes, his entire fortune only adds up to $110k today! It's falling in price much faster than he can rake in more. He could still afford a decent RV, and get himself a campsite to retire on, if he's quick!

Blurt is weathering the bear market well.

BLURT (despite issues with exchanges in the last several months) is holding up really nicely. On par with BTC and other solid performers. It's symptomatic of HIVE's slow collapse. The destroyers of Hive aren't able to stop destroying it, so it and they are doomed to continue this steady decline. Those who were unfairly silenced by the downvote cabal, and the Blurt platform in general, will continue to gain.

NOTE: While I was finishing up this post, HIVE dropped to yet another new all-time low of 0.06021 USD.
