The Novice Captain's Growth Diary
Who would've thought that just three months ago, I couldn't even tie a rope, yet now I can sail the boat out of port all by myself! Though my first docking attempt still turned into a “bumper boat” scene, leaving the neighbor captain laughing so hard he doubled over.
Now, my favorite part of each day is cruising out to the middle of the bay after work, shutting off the engine, and drifting with the waves. Watching the sunset cast a golden glow over the helm's controls, I suddenly understood why seasoned captains say, “Buying a boat means buying a different lifestyle.” The other day, I accompanied a friend to view boats and discovered the used boat market is far more vibrant than I imagined. The selection of used boats for sale ( https://www.yachttrading.com/used-yachts-for-sale/ ) is astonishingly diverse, even affordable for young professionals just starting their careers.
Lately I've been studying night navigation techniques—those navigation lights are making my eyes cross. Seeking advice from experienced sailors: How can I quickly distinguish portside (red) and starboard (green) lights? Need help ASAP, or I'll get another warning from the maritime patrol next time!
