Reading Books is one of my favorite hobbies. In this post I want to share with you my favorite writers and their books!

  1. Charles Bukowski "Women".236229_97445996.jpg
Charles Bukowski - one of the greatest American writers of the twentieth century, the author of more than forty books, including novels, poems, essays and short stories. Despite the sometimes shocking naturalism, his texts are full of lyricism, even peculiar sentimentality. The novel "Women" was written by him in the wake of popularity and contains a lot of branded "chips" Bukowski: self-irony, the abundance of sex scenes, the dynamism of the plot. The hero of the book is 50 years old, his name is Henry Chinaski, and he is the same alter-ego of the author. The novel is a series of more than explicit sex scenes, which are united by the main thing - the hero's endless love for his women, admiring them and coarse-sincere admiration.

  2. Charles Bukowski "Post office"

()
For Henry Chinaski, the author's alter-ego, the post office is the underworld where he has voluntarily reached. And in the hell there is no peace: you need to fight off the annoying residents, waiting for non-existent shipments, wind kilometers over unfriendly terrain, listen to complaints, evade additional work. And there is no way out, and the melancholy is pressing, from which there is no escape except women and alcohol. Never before in the literature before the Post Office did Bukowski post look like such a terrifying and alluring place.

3)Haldrigrimur Helgason "101 Reykjavik"

“101” is the postal code for central Reykjavik, the cold capital of Iceland. In this city, emotional discord is inevitable, like inclement weather, and even ghosts are bored in a succession of empty nights. Thirty-three-year-old Khlin lives in the mother’s apartment, receives unemployment benefits, downloads porn from the Internet, wanders with friends at taverns and nightclubs, waits for an e-mail from a Hungarian princess every evening and unsuccessfully fights the craving for her girlfriend’s sexy girlfriend who suddenly decided to change her sexual orientation

4)Algerd Bakharevich "White fly, the killer of men"

The novel by A. Bakharevich is unique for Belarusian literature, that not all of its events take place in Minsk, which is a definite plus. The complex plot, similar to the road through the foggy swamp to the singing of the mermaids, is fascinating and a little bit crazy. Where is the wake, where is the dream? Perhaps the main character during a tour of the Castle just went crazy and continued to quietly dream already in the hospital, weaving in delirium the love of youth and enemies of adult age? Anything can happen. This work can be precisely called a feminist novel (or feminist). But with a tragic ending. Women fight ... and lose, which in fact is not surprising.

I will be glad to your advice and stories about the best books you read!)

Sort:

I'm a really big fan of Charles Bukowski! It's so cool too see another fan.

Women is probably my favourite Bukowski novel as well -- did you know that Hank Moody from Californication is loosely based on a modern day Henry/Hank Chinaski and Charles bukowski after finding fame in California later in life?

If you haven't watched it I reccommend it! It's full of references to Bukowski and other famous writers. Anyway, I liked your article -- Thanks for sharing!
