"When The World Changes In Single Moment"
Accident is one of Danielle Steel novel which was written in 1994. It tells the story of
Page Clarke, a happily married woman who lives with her husband, Brad Clarke, her daughter, Allyson and son Andrew. One night Brad goes on an unexpected business trip to Cleveland and Allyson reports she is going to have dinner with her friend Chloe and Chloe's father, Trygve Thorensen. Instead Allyson goes out with Chloe and two older boys named Jamie Applegate and Phillip Chapman. While crossing the Golden Gate Bridge the teenagers collide with senator's wife Laura Hutchinson. Phillip is killed, Chloe suffers leg damage, and Allyson has a head trauma.
Both girls are rushed to the hospital, while Trygve and Page arrive before the surgeries. Page is unable to reach Brad until after the surgery has begun, and Brad was disapointed that she did not consult him before the surgery. She tells him that Allyson would have died if they did not the surgery. One hour later, Brad arrives at the hospital. Then, Page ask him why he is arrives early from his trip and he confesses that he has been cheating on her. After that Brad disappears several times. Eventually Page's mother, Maribelle, and sister Alexis arrive in San Francisco and laze in the house while Allison remains in the hospital.
One night after dinner, Page becomes angry at her mother, demanding why she pretends that she did not know that her father molested her and her sister when they were children. Then she forces Brad to move out and sends her mother and sister back to New York. Then she and Trygve had confessed their feelings to each other. Trygve and his children Nick, Bjorn and Chloe go to a lake for the weekend, and Allyson awake from her coma. When Page goes to join them at the lake, she confesses to Trygve that she is pregnant with his child, and they start to plan their wedding.
The story about a strong woman that has to face many problems which come suddenly is very inspiring, The story is unpredictable as well. Danielle Steel always give so much detail to one thing over and over in her story. I feel a little disturbed while I read it, but the whole of story is good. The moral value from this story is you never know what will happen in your life, as Page said :
“Five Months ago,my life was in whole different place…and now look what we’ve been trough, where we’ve gone. You never know in life what’s going to happen.”
(Steel : 410)
So you have to always grateful with something that happens in your life whether is good or bad. In the beginning of the story Page feels so happy with her family, when the some problems come suddenly in her life, she stands alone to face it, and being a strong woman. She thinks that she will get happiness in the end and finally she got it.
So, i recommend this Novel for those people who like to read the story of remarkable courage when the lives changed in a single moment.
