"ONCE....TWICE....THRICE!"😅..........................NORTHWEST ADVENTURES! 😀
“ Once…Twice…Thrice!”😳
1:30 AM and the rain was pounding on our glass skylight directly above our waterbed……Again!😳
I opened up the USGS app, and checked the Nooksack River depth…… it was going straight vertical!🙄
“Liz it kind of looks like the current precious metal chart for Silver and Gold Lol!”😇
You need to be a bit lighthearted about the rain and potential flooding. So many people that live in the valley have varying degrees of PTSD…(post traumatic stress disorder), it really can be a stressful situation!😮
Even living safely in the foothills, with Liz working down in the valley, I still find myself checking the river level quite often………….
In November the river came extremely close to flooding, then on December 10th it spilled over the levy and flooded the towns of Everson and Sumas!
Today looked like round three!🙄
By 6PM the river was at 81.20 feet, with flood stage at 83 feet!🙄
With the weather not really cooperating with us for a hike today, Liz and Silvertop headed to town for an “Inside” shopping experience!☺️
I’ve learned that clean, crisp, photos are difficult to take, during a downpour, so you are seeing the storm “Firsthand” through paparazzi Silvertop’s camera lens my friends!😇
“Silvertop it’s NOT going to flood today!”🥰
“I don’t know Liz, we should be extra careful, if they close the gates on the main road, we will be staying in a motel in town!”🙄
There are basically three main roads that will take you up into the foothills of the Mountains….. and home for Silvertop!
To the North through the town of Sumas, that definitely floods, and the road is impassable………….
Straight through the town of Everson, until they close and lock the gates on the main road due to flooding………..
Or take the South highway road, that is usually under water as well!😳
Since yesterday the Mountains have been “Socked” in with a thick fog, you can’t even see the valley below, this is quite the storm!😮
“Starbucks before we head home Silvertop!”🥰
I checked the river once more………..
“OK Honey…. I guess if we were to be stuck in town, at least it’s with my Lady!”😍
After we finished our lattes, we started towards home……..
You could see a thick fog rising, and following the rain swollen river, it was a bit eerie!
“Silvertop is it coming over the top of the Levy?”😮
“Not yet Liz!”…………………..
I was so glad when we pull in the driveway!😅
I checked the USGS app once again……..
The river was slightly down at 81.16 Feet!
The next week looks to be Sun and clouds!😎
Can we all say………..Ahhh!👍🤗
Till tomorrow Silvertop Mike 😊
