A sculptor is a craftsman who uses his hard work
The sculptor first decides what material to use. Nowadays, clay, marble, and fiber are also used. If working with stone, they remove excess parts using a chisel and hammer. In clay sculptures, they shape the details with their hands. Creating the eyes, facial expressions, and folds of clothing is the most difficult task, requiring immense concentration.
Sculptors are the guardians of our society's culture and history. Whether it's the beautiful statues of gods and goddesses in our temples or the magnificent statues of great men, they are all the work of sculptors. During festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi or Durga Puja, sculptors' work increases. They work day and night to create beautiful statues for devotees. In today's machine-driven era, hand-sculpting artists face many challenges. The income of traditional sculptors has been impacted by the affordability of molded statues. Moreover, the rising prices of good soil and stones have also made their work difficult.
