Hugh Hefner:
Undergrad - Psychology (University of Illinois)
Post-Grad: Sociology [DROPOUT] (Northwestern University)

I recently wrote our first post about the education career of an athlete, Shaquille O'Neal. Today I am going to start another new feature covering the educational careers of college dropouts. Our first person is none other than the late Hugh Hefner. Though Hefner was not your typical dropout story like Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg. Hefner still falls into the umbrella of a dropout as he left university during his post-grad program at Northwestern University

Hefner began his college career at the University of Illinois where he majored in psychology. Hefner chose psych because he was fascinated by human behaviour and his desire for people to have freedom of expression especially with respect to self-gratification. Hefner was also fascinated by illustrations and he wanted to be a cartoonist when he graduated which was why he also minored in art and creative writing. During his undergrad, Hefner drew cartoons for The Daily Illini and served as a managing editor for Shaft, a campus humour magazine, where he started a "Coed of the Month" feature. Hefner was able to complete his degree in just two and a half years. After he graduated Hefner accepted a job at Esquire Magazine as a copywriter. It is also said Hefner has an iq of 152, just a few points shy of Stephen Hawking

Hefner continued his studies at Northwestern University grad school where he studied sociology. During grad school Hefner wrote a paper that looked at the United States's sex laws. Hefner's experience in grad school was short lived as he dropped out after only one semester. Hefner also met his future wife at Northwestern.
