"Sellers of success" or trainings as illusion of self-development
I'm sure many of you have attended trainings at least once in your life, whether it is to improve personal growth or professional sphere of interest. Just want to note that exclusively share their experiences and are likely to hurt the feelings of people leading, or have a really high-quality courses, not "sold air".
The Surge in the fashionable American format of active learning of the 60s, got to Russia only by the end of the 90's, and the first leadership training, and later the development of business quite successfully occupied its niche in the information deficit. Today, there are thousands of companies that manage to sell this info-product to millions of suffering to become the best, but in the flow of tempting promises it is very difficult to find unique offers.
It is Clear that people do not even pay so much for information as for the exchange of experience, empowerment and the desire to learn the secret of earnings is not much bother. But more and more time, as our most valuable resource — is thrown out in vain when even the eminent speaker, beginning to travel around the cities, loses qualification in isolation from the rapidly changing world.
Here I am by the nature of their work almost monthly volunteer force "is signed on the package" another development, and after the last "perfect training" is ripe for this, a little bit critical of the post. It seems that everyone forgets about the development of courses under the average client, are there really those who really think to get "secret knowledge" and quick effect with minimal effort.
Of course, to achieve good results any person simply needs constant growth and a driver of self-development. But do you think that 90% of trainings and courses available on the market can give such a boost? And why are successful leaders did not participate in any programs? They didn't have time for this, they had the courage to make their own conclusions ongoing work (Kaizen in all aspects of life).
Call me a snob, but why do speakers consider it possible to teach without having a personal example and professional achievements. It seems to me to push with confidence and ambition, became a success of going on stage in front of hundreds of people willing to be leaders. And after all inspired participants of trainings sometimes leave work, get rid of "wrong" friends, change the attitude to a family...
Where there are rave reviews is also clear, but the competence of speakers and the adequacy of the subject of courses in recent years is simply amazing. A real vicious circle, when you don't want to say bad, because the speaker has been doing it for many years! I am ashamed to admit in lost money for listening to known facts, anecdotes and banal manipulations of the coach?
The emotional swings used, especially in business trainings, are more likely to simply throw away from the comfort zone than bring them closer to conscious and gradual work on themselves. Do you really think selling small things to strangers on the street would make a senior Manager more effective? Simple good manipulation of emotions and euphoria after successful execution of a uncomfortable task (such, managerial masochism).
Okay when I take part in various "information overload", solving cases, role-playing games, team building at the expense of the company (as entertainment). But very often such training dozens of people paid from their own pockets to 3 days to hear what they already know? Well, the justification for the training effect of the crowd in the bargain (couldn't all be wrong). Don't tell me that the training is essential for networking or for the love of coffee-breaks ))
In no way I try to muddy such a business (there are always exceptions, individual coaches, etc.), rather I sum up the intermediate result, after a few dozen group trainings, passed in recent years.
If there is a demand "to be deceived", then there will be those who will do it. It is important to remember that secret mechanisms to build an Empire or become a leader by morning — just no! It is necessary to learn from the experience of others, to realize that self — education, self-motivation and self-discipline-only our prerogative!

I couldn't agree more. I've literally seen career men retire to take up Entrepreneurial advisory roles.
