The Great Obstacle of Happiness: "Concern"

Who has not worried? The worry comes from living in the past we have all made mistakes, we have all done things wrong. We have made foolish decisions and they have gone wrong, this is part of everyone's past and nothing you can do to change it. Worry is a great destroyer of happiness because that means that you live tormented thinking how you can favor a situation or an action. This is totally unproductive and yet most of us participate in it with great enthusiasm. I'm always surprised to hear phrases like "this is something we need to worry about" or "this looks really disturbing". Of course, you should not worry about anything, there is always a better option. Similarly, nobody knows the future, nobody can predict what will happen tomorrow and yet we spend a lot of time trying to do exactly that and we care about all things that could go wrong.

As Benjamin Franklin says
"Do not anticipate the problems or worry about what has not happened yet. Stay in the light. "

The most important thing to keep in mind here is that you are in control. You are pulling your own chains, you can choose what to think and how to act. Many people do not understand this, they are unable to change their way of thinking and thus get caught up in their own thoughts of worry and fear. It is very common for people to blame their unhappiness on the outside world for other people, circumstances, government, etc. - without realizing that the problems and their solutions are within themselves.

It is true that some things are beyond our control. But I am convinced that happiness is a choice. It is a decision we all make, it does not matter if we have knowledge of it or not. It is possible to be happy in any situation because happiness is our natural state.

"Joy is not in things, but in us"

One of the most effective ways to find happiness is to make a list of all the wonderful things that have happened to you. At the end of the day, it is enough that you see through the things that you have appreciated during that day. These may be small things - maybe someone told you a kind word, maybe you laughed at something, maybe they gave you a compliment or spent time with friends. You're good? Are you free of pain? Have you eaten? These are all the things that you have to appreciate.

It is also important to cultivate the habit of seeing the good in things. Many events can be interpreted positively or negatively. Is the glass half empty or half full?

Every day, try to develop awareness of your thinking so that you can realize when you start worrying and then make the decision to think about more productive things. It is difficult at the beginning but with practice it will become commonplace.

Take the commitment to be happy - it's the most important work of your life!
