Steem Monsters Sunday!: The Fail of What was Last Season
This may not seem very exciting at all as the value of the Reward Edition cards have seemed to declines quite substantially given their lack of demand. In fact, other Steemians have proposed burning their cards by sending them to the @null account in order to decrease the supply in efforts to bring their value back. However, I think that the developers are well aware of this situation and are likely, as they have been in the past, to make adjustments to aligned them to a fair place in the game. They have the ability to adjust stats and abilities as well as the mana needed to play them which can alter their demand quickly if deployed. There are a couple of users out there that have actually taken the opportunity to buy more up in speculation that this could happen and profits from the increase.

The result of my season was finishing at Diamond Division II which rewarded me with 50 Reward Edition Cards. As I often say, getting something of use and/or value for playing a game I enjoy is better than getting nothing at all so I will not lament the results of the rewards. No special cards to report on but some more to accumulate for reaching higher levels for certain cards. Since the release of these Reward Edition cards started, I have been able to collect a good amount of them so most have been used to level them up. They now are the most powerful cards I have in my collection although some do no have a great place in the games meta these days. However, I expect this to change as developers seek to ensure the balance and value of the these cards.
As new Dapps continue to make their way onto the Steem blockchain, users continue to experiment with many and while some are having much success, we continue to see that Steem Monsters continues to have the attention of many. This will continue to be the case as it continues to be the Dapp with the most depth in the ecosystem. It has been the best example of a sustainable project that many seek to replicate. This will bring periods of time where users will tend to reduce their engagement in some Dapps and pay more attention to others. However, after time passes, users will often levitate to those that are more engaging. I believe that Steem Monsters will be that Dapp that remains sustainable and of interest to the community.

In the meantime, I continue to enjoy the battles every day and learning the strategies that many talented users have found to often be at the top of the leaderboards of both the seasons and tournaments. I have also started to enjoy more the fact of the many Steemians I am often seeing on the battlefield. I recently had the opportunity to battle a couple of time with the great Steemian @stackin and I took it seriously just to get this screenshot. I won’t mention the other times he beat me but it is all immutable on the blockchain so no need to bring that up! The fact is that this continues to be a great time to enjoy engagement in the ecosystem and the many alternatives we have to do so.
The community and its developers continue to work together on building a great place to play and grow our Steem accounts at the same time. Given the fact that they are incorporating feedback so well and are also reinvesting their earnings into their project, I know that the game will continue to foster growth and adoption as it develops. The roadmap continues to grow and provides the players and users of the ecosystem an ambitious future to follow with excitement. I look forward to being a part of it!

Interesting thought in people buying up reward cards in anticipation of adjustments. I might just have to keep buy some.

It is speculation but an interesting one considering the team has always told the community that prefer prices to be maintained while fostering a balanced game competitively.

Despite the other games out there, I am still enjoying this game much more given how it engages us with the community. I am looking forward to the new tournament system!
I have yet to try but will some time this week!

I guess many players have diverted to drugwar
Seems like it but time will tell if they come back or not.

Well i actually decide to wait till the card value rise up a bit before i join
Still a great time to join and start collecting cards before they go up in value as the model provides great incentives (and fun) to play for little or nothing at all to invest except time.

You are right but i was guessing if i start now, i may not reap my investment due to low value in the cards
I haven't seen many good games that run on a blockchain, but Steemmonsters is, imo, the best one around, drugwars is cool concept and eosknights too, but eosknights lacks in development, their whole market is screwed, their items kept dropping and there weren't enough players to buy the items from the market, and they haven't created any system to decrease the supply in the market (just like it's happening on Steemmonsters)
Imo, the way to fix the excess of card in Steemmonsters is
Do what you said, increase the stats to make the cards that aren't used more widely used, just like League of Legends(LoL) did to a champion called Karma, they did a whole remake of the champion since it was the least used champion. After the remake the champion started being used, even being used in some pre-league tournaments.
Create a repair/broke system, for example, you can use a card 100 times before it breaks, once it breaks you can't use it unless you use another card to repair the first, any card can be used in the repair! Making the whole market buy low priced cards to repair the good ones! The card used for repair would go to the nuls account(maybe, haven't figured this one out yet).
Create a system like EOSknights has, where we need "water" to evolve the cards, this water can be generated by consuming cards, this would allow a further decrease in the card supply and another use case for the cards... probably moving some cogs around to make the whole Steemmonsters market move...
Maybe I should contact the team in order to see what they think of this system... don't really know who to contact...
