Week 24: #introduceyourself Curation Post
The timing of these increases in new users and engagement seems to be great as many communities are coming together to provide great support and education to these users as they onboard into the ecosystem and learn there way here. @steemonboarding is still well on its way to provide a great resource for new users to learn and engage with communities when starting in the ecosystem. They have taken a broad approach in preparing up to 10 languages to help onboard users around the world. This has gotten me thinking about exploring some more myself in the Spanish-speaking community as it is a language I defend myself well in. I continue to see a large influx of users speaking Spanish which encourage me to do a bit more. However, I have yet to give it much thought at this point as to how I would engage with that community.
I have also discovered another great resource for new users as well as users seeking to broaden their experience here in the ecosystem! After weeks of following @jongolson and the great content he is creating, I finally got over and joined his SteemSaavy site and have enjoyed seeing what he has been able to create for aspiring Steemians engaging with the community. While I have not been able to really see all of the content, those that I did provide great value and knowledge for all seeking to grow here in the ecosystem. This has made me realize that I need to update my introduction comment yet again as the amount of great content being created by communities to support the onboarding process continues to grow. However, I recently got some great feedback about my comment being somewhat long which would lose the authors interest especially considering the amount of comments first time posters get on their introduction posts. Therefore, I will be reviewing my comment to reduce its length and work on a post that will provide some useful details and links to the great content available for new users. Hopefully, I can get it done before next week’s post!
@sndbox did not run an Introduction contest this week which was unfortunate but somewhat understand as the participation declined after they eliminated the reward for those who suggested the new user. I was disappointed with the community (not @sndbox) as we should not expect rewards for helping other Steemians getting off to a great start in the ecosystem if they went through the effort to introduce themselves. I hope they bring the contest back as it was a way to keep my on my toes with constant curation of the #introduceyourself posts throughout the whole week leading into my weekly post.
The following are this week’s curated #introduceyourself posts from new Steemians! Please consider providing them a visit to help them onboard and provide them with motivation towards the future:
@tsmcintyre recently joined and had a great short and simple introduction where he presented his experience of adversity with family and raising his youngest alone while getting college done. The passion led to his ventures as an entrepreneur which has given his family and himself success. He intends to share these experiences to help those trying to start a business. He got my interest!
@danitasbg is a young Civil Engineer from Bolivia that recently has an eye-opening experience as she travel abroad to Europe to realize here studies. This experience has expanded her mind to all the diversity the world can offer. She has become passionate about travel and photography in addition to her enjoyment of 70s and 80s music. Lastly, she is an animal lover which you can see with her picture with some puppies!
@felblob is a self proclaimes nerd that loves the outdoors his free spirit approach to life. He introduced his experiences in computing from a young age which interested him in programming and even created macros to farm digital assets in some video games. He took his studies to study entrepreneurship and spent time exploring hos next steps until he found data science and blockchain! He has also gone down the rabbit hole of crypto and is now working on how to get more involved in the great opportunity and sharing it here in the ecosystem.
@src3 meaning heart is a new Steemian from Germany that was attracted to the platform from another user that promoted the attention economy being created here. His introduction states how we was long seeking a way to promote his presence in a digital landscape given the advice of Gary Vaynerchuk. He believes that blockchain technology and the social ecosystem creates value for its users like no wherr else. Given his knowledge of Cyber Security, that means quite a bit as the centralized platforms never got his attention. While he also has a blog dedicated to 3D printing, he intends to engage here more often to share his experiences and add value.
@karibarker or The Diplomatic Vagrant as she acknowledges is a young professional that has recently had a turning point in her career when she left her job at a Big Four Accounting firm to pursue other interests. While she was great at what she did and thought it was her dream job, a personal issue made her think about her future. She now intends to take up her passion for writing and find her purpose! What a great place to start than here on Steem!
I hope this to be an evolving process to the benefit of the community so please continue providing feedback to support these and all the new users coming to the platform. I am looking forward to more new users coming and engaging with the community to solidify the social aspect of the #STEEM blockchain.
Have there been any new users you have found that I can pay a visit to? How can we continue to support new users in order to manage their expectations coming to this new platform? I look forward to your thoughts and feedback in the comments below!
I look forward to seeing the community actively engaged to provide feedback to support incoming users with the proper education and motivation to get off on the right foot in the ecosystem!

I would help out, but I'm almost down to 50% voting power... I need more STEEM to help with the curation, I especially need to stop curating so much! huuu screw it, going to some of those posts anyway, they are just starting out they need it! I know how I felt when I first started out... the worst part is that I started out at the ATH, had no bandwidth and couldn't post for hours! Had to wait until 4 am to actually post...(made the comments and posts all throughout the day and posted them all together at 4am xD)
Thanks for the support! Yeah, I remember my first week and the issue with bandwidth and voting power as I used it too much and had to stop engaging at one point.

Thank you for being a great ambassador to those getting started and helping us build value! This is only the beginning and I believe that there is much yet to come!

I follow jongolson as well and have seen him posting about steemsavvy but to my shame have not checked it out yet. I'll get that fixed straight away and see what can be done with it.
I'm seeing some new faces around lately as well so i think it's important that we try to keep them active and engaged until they find their feet. The first few months can be tough when youre not seeing much reward for all of the work going in. Especially at these prices when votes are worth very little. That's when it's most important to keep them interested.
Yes, it is definitely tough as I have been looking at my first posts and see how tough it was even at the peak of prices! That is why the onboarding process is so important and why we need to come together as a community to help.

I didn't realize that there are so many great resources for new users. That's awesome. Sounds like you found quite a few interesting people this week as well. I dont often check out the "introduction" tabs on steemit so I rarely see those kinds of post. Unfortunately I probably cant help you out in your search for new users. I'm glad to hear that you are almost caught up in your news feed though. Enjoy the weekend with your family!

I used to think the same but providing sone attention could give the motivation that sometimes is worth more than the upvote.
