Turning our unused land into value
Greeting Steemit Family
Sometimes, we overlook the potential that lies right before us. Recently, I visited the farm with my wife, and it turned out to be one of those simple but deeply meaningful experiences. We were able to harvest two full bunches of plantains and bananas. Seeing the fresh produce lying there, ready for use, was a quiet but powerful reminder that the land, when given even a little attention, always finds a way to give back. That is the language of my grandmother. May her soul continue to rest in peace.
Looking at the bananas, I’m not even sure we will consume all of them ourselves. Most likely, we will offer some for sale. And that, in itself, says a lot. What started as simply letting the land sit, without any immediate plans. Has now turned into something productive, and something that can either feed us or bring in a little income.
This experience made me reflect on how many pieces of land are left unused simply because there is no clear or immediate project in mind. Often, we wait for the perfect plan before taking action. But sometimes, the simplest step, planting something, is enough to begin a meaningful transformation. Crops like plantains and bananas do not demand constant attention, yet they reward patience over time.
Beyond the harvest, there is also a deep sense of satisfaction that comes with it. Watching something grow, knowing it came from your effort. No matter how small, it creates a different kind of connection to the land. It is a reminder that growth does not always require intensity or complexity. Sometimes, it simply requires consistency, time, and a willingness to start.
Moments like this remind me that productivity does not always have to be loud or complicated. It does not always need grand plans or large investments. Sometimes, it is as simple as putting something in the ground and allowing time to do the rest. There is peace in that process, a quiet assurance that something is happening. It does not seem immediate.
In the end, unused land does not have to remain idle. With a little intention, it can become a source of food, a stream of income, and even a place of reflection. What we often see as nothing may just be potential waiting for the smallest action to bring it to life.
Cheers
