Holy Shit!

Biting smell

With the intention to clean properly even if it is not yet spring, I decided to crawl under the beds in the narrow caravan.
What a mistake. Well, what luck.

No sooner said than done, I lay on my stomach and put my head under my son's bed.
Biting smell hits me! In my head an image of doom is created immediately. No question, we had roommates.

So I lifted the mattress completely off the bed and pushed it out of the cramped caravan with the greatest effort.

So even the jump frame was gone, I was offered an even worse scenario than I had imagined. It's all mold. Not just a little corner, no, all around.

The nervous breakdown

Now some of you may be able to think how I was feeling.
Immediately tears shot into my eyes. And now what? It was impossible to stay here in this "room" let alone sleep.

Thinking that my son slept here for what I know how long, my back's freezing.

When my son came home from school and complained about something, the barrel overflowed. I burst and then collapsed crying. What a shit.
Where should I go now? My head was full of questions. Fear spread. How to stay here? I drew up the worst horror scenarios. Homeless under the bridge!

By the way, that's not so far-fetched! I wouldn't get any help if I hadn't been registered in this city for two years and I wasn´t! No kidding, if I sat under the bridge with my child, I wouldn't get a flat. You don't believe? Ask at the office! Yes, I am in Germany!

But back to the drama.

The demolition

I went to the "boss"of the campground and reported on my find.
Then the three of us stood in my son´s room and watched the catastrophe.

First they removed everything and checked out the situation.
We are now at the point where the room is empty and the walls are sprayed with chlorine. After further inspection, however, it is clear that living here is only an emergency solution and sooner or later it needs a new camper

Since the good piece is completely made of wood - which is really great - it is unfortunately not able to withstand the weather on the outside walls. In addition, there is the humidity inside, which you cannot get rid of even with the most well-intentioned ventilation and heating. It's just not meant to be a permanent home, such a caravan.

Let's get out of here

Luckily I'm sitting on the train to Hamburg, meeting my friends and get a taste of home air. A little distance hopefully will bring me back down to earth a little bit.

When I get back, we'll see what happens. Until then, it will also be clear whether the mould can be removed acutely until another solution is found, or whether I suffer the next nervous breakdown.

But there will definitely be a solution. The "boss" makes sure of that. He's a good guy!

Hello Hamburg!

Es ist echt kalt! Selbst hier in Hamburg!
LG Monja 💐

That's a hard situation you're dealing with. Your son's health I can tell is the most important thing for you an to know he has been breathing in the spores is not a good feeling. I've been there myself with my own son, in the end we had to move to a different apartment because the landlord wasn't doing much about getting a long term solution. I'm glad to hear the 'boss' is a good guy, hopefully he'll get it sorted and you can continue living there. :)

Yes, indeed, it's not easy to handle.
I'm really lucky, the landlord has children of his own and doesn't feel good about the way things are now. He has apologized several times, even though it's not his fault.
There's bound to be a good solution. He's already looking to see if he can find a new caravan. It would be great to stay there, although it is quite difficult in winter. Always cold and damp is very stressful. But in the summer it is much nicer to live in a caravan and always be outside.
Thank you for your kind comment! I will report how it goes on!
Greets from Germany, Mo*

I'm glad he's feeling such empathy for you. A new caravan would be good. :). It's always the way that there has to be a ying and yang, enjoying the summer and being so close to it means you have to suffer the cold and damp of winter. Ideally you'd want 6 months of summer in the caravan and 6 months of winter in a house or apartment. Greets from Ireland. Jim. :)

Hey Jim, Yeah, the ying and yang. You can't escape it. Not even in winter in an apartment. But it would be a great option! 😀 Greetings, Monja
