Value Makes You Valuable

What makes anyone valuable is not the title he bears, it is the value he brings.‎ The day a lion is born it is a lion. But that does not mean it can function in full capacity as a lion.

That baby lion will still have to grow to become a lion it already is. So a lion grows to become a lion. In the same vein, even though you were born great you will still have to grow to become great.

How fast you will grow depends on you. It depends on how much you are willing to invest in your growth and how well you use what you are learning. The pace of growth will be different from one person to another. You are responsible for the pace at which you grow.

No one becomes a person of value without first investing in his own growth. If you are really serious about becoming a person of value you must be ready to invest your money in growing yourself.

It is by these investments you make on yourself that you become a person of value which in turn makes you valuable to others. You cannot give what you don’t have.

No man is of value who does not have anything to offer. Think of all the influencers you admire. The one thing that is common to all of them is that they have something to offer. They are the ones giving. They are giving value.

That means the only way to become relevant is by having something to offer. What do you have to offer? What have you started and become successful at? You can't be sitting in your room and dreaming of standing before thousands of people when you have not done anything with your life.

Can you bake? Can you sew? Can you teach small business how to keep their accounts? Can you help people look fit? Can you repair stuff? Can you lead a group of people to achieve a common goal? What exactly can you do besides reading motivational books?

I listed those examples so you can have a broadened knowledge of what it means to be valuable. You can only motivate people by sharing your story. It is what you have done and become successful at that you will share. That is why they will listen to you.

You must, therefore, start by adding value to yourself. Your personal development must be of high priority to you. Learning a skill, taking classes, reading books, attending seminars, taking courses, etc. These are some of the things you must take seriously if you are to become a person of value.

One way to increase your value is to be in a community of people who are constantly adding value to one another.
