It should work. I also think that you might be able to get cuttings from tomatoes to root that way too.

We are going to change the aerated rock sticks that we used to a tube style aerator line so that we can deliver consistent air bubbles to the roots. Our cuttings that missed getting good aeration because the air bubbles weren't reaching them consistently enough almost lost all their leaves entirely. The only reason we hung onto them is because they did still manage to grow roots and we thought we'd take our chances and try and resurrect them. (I find sometimes those are the best plants/trees because they are tough as nails, if they survive.)
