The Struggle Starts: Introduction

in #cannabis8 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemit,

This is continuation from my last blog post. After debating if I even really wanted to quit smoking in the first place or if I just want more from my life that isn't related to cannabis in the first place. I've always had a love/hate relationship with cannabis mainly because I hate the idea of something controlling my life but I have mad respect for all the benefits cannabis offers and the good it does people. But I've decided it's time to quit for a lot of reasons then just those previously mentioned in the last post; it mainly comes down to me realizing its just time to stop. So to help out with the process and to keep me motivated on the progress I've decide to write a series on my struggle to quit Cannabis as promised. They say it takes 21 days of going cold turkey on a habit to kick it completely so I'm about to find out how true that is. Granted I know an addiction is not a typical habit to break but the good news is cannabis is just a psychologically addiction so most of it is going to be me balancing my life with fun activities and new hobbies to keep my hands busy. So here we go Steemit tonight is my final night of smoking and I'm about to fire up my last bowl tonight and begin the journey tomorrow morning will update soon!

I made this nice pretty quitting calendar to track my progress

Here is the last bowl for awhile!

Wish me luck!

Please use relevant tags when posting! Abusing tags can potentially lead to people flagging you, even from dan himself.

How are these not relevant tags? They all include things that are covered in the article. Just kinda wondering because I was aware of tage abuse but I don't see how that applies in this case except the steemit tag but I am sharing the entire experience on steemit and steemit alone so to me that does make the story a little relevant enough to post with a steemit tag imo. But I definitely wasn't trying to commit tag abuse and I did change it just in case thank you for the warning.

Thanks for updating.

Sure thanks again for the heads up.

@dking7334 Why do you feel the need to quite or you might have a problem? Cannabis has no physical addictive properties as you know, exercise creates the release of similar endorphin's to cannabis so it will help. I believe all things are relative and if you have a valid reason for needing to quite I will support you 100% of the way. Do you use for recreational purposes or medical? Sorry for all the questions the subject interest me. Thanks for the post much appreciated.

@bitminter thank you for the advice I am going to try exercising. I used for recreational purposes so that's contributed to why I feel it's time to quit. As for the reason I think I've just reach a point in my life where I'm ready to try different things.

Check out this video about addiction. It really changed my perspective on how to deal with addiction.

And Good Luck!

Thank you for sharing I think I've seen it but I'll check it out!

Good on you. The other thing is, if you do struggle you may consider trying switching to purely edibles first (almost like the equivalent of nicotine gum or e-cigs for tobacco). Best of luck.

I thought about it or getting a vaporizer but I figure the first two weeks will be hell but then it should get easier from there. Thanks for reading!

No problem. Whatever works best of you is what is important. I think the exercise idea is a good too. Replace one activity with another.

Im trying today hasn't been a very good day for that but theres always tomorrow!
