DEA announced it won't reclassify cannabis, the government is pure hypocrisy

in #cannabis8 years ago (edited)

Today the DEA announced that cannabis will not be reclassified. It is considered worse than cocaine and morphine. Ugh... The reasoning behind not rescheduling it is because cannabis "has a high potential for abuse" and "no accepted medical use". Pure lies. Did the DEA inform Obama of this? Maybe he should speak with his daughter about her drug use.

How about, no? Cannabis has been proven to benefit a wide range of issues. The government is nothing but hypocrisy at every level. If you follow the money you will see the alcohol and tobacco industries throwing millions into keeping cannabis illegal. With this announcement millions of individuals will have their life ruined over the coming years by committing victimless crimes to themselves. This is proof that you do not own your body and we are not free to interact with other consenting adults as we see fit.

Remember:

  1. No victim no crime
  2. There is no law too small that the government will not kill you over
  3. Taxation is theft

Thanks! I try to put out quality stuff on Steemit. I feel the same way too when thinking about the government. Lol

The hypocrisy is worse when you realise that the US government have patented this - Does The U.S. Government Own A Patent On Marijuana? - http://www.leafscience.com/2014/07/25/u-s-government-patent-marijuana/

Fully agree. It is a plant and should be 100% legal. Intellectual property rights feeds crony capitalism and damages the free market.

While I don't necessarily align with the push for Marijuana, when I saw the news for this a little bit ago, I too was very shocked given the hypocrisy of the government around this decision given what has been said before.

@trevorjenglish it isn't for everyone and that is fine as long as those views aren't forced upon others. That is our issue, many use the government to force their "morals"on others; usually it entails massive rights violations that leads to innocent people being murdered by the state. No victim no crime.

just grow it anyway - God gave us the seed - it's THE freedom cure

I agree that everyone should grow it anyways but it doesn't reduce the risk to life that someone will have to deal with. Being murdered for growing a plant is acceptable to some.

Couldn't agree with you more. Little by little we are turning into a nanny state. Land of the free no more..

I just typed "nanny state" on another Steemit post about how an Italian Court ruled over parents who fed their kids on a vegan diet. Check it out here - https://steemit.com/news/@kevbonneau/parents-who-feed-kids-a-vegan-diet-may-risk-jail-in-italy-under-new-law#@spartanza/re-kevbonneau-parents-who-feed-kids-a-vegan-diet-may-risk-jail-in-italy-under-new-law-20160811t192531974z

Yea, this nanny state has infected many many aspects of our lives. I like to give a simple example of a nanny state. Car/motor vehicle seatbelts. Sure, they are important for your safety and increases your chance of survival in a motor vehicle accident, however I have an argument. Here in South Africa, you get about a R500 spot fine for not wearing a seatbelt and you are the driver (i think there are fines for other passengers too, but I have never witnessed one being issued for a passenger). Anyway, thats all very well and good, but why do I have to be fined while the action of me wearing a seatbelt or not only has an impact on me, and no other human being. Whether I go through the windscreen or not has nothing to do with me having to hand over a fine. An argument could be that it is for my own protection, and I am being forced to wear a seatbelt for my own good.
What about skydiving? Skydiving, by the same token, should be outlawed because its probably just as dangerous as driving without a seatbelt (assuming here, don't shoot me down).

Side note. One of My pet hate are those cars that beep at you like you are some old blind and deaf person. The little seatbelt sign flashing, and all you hear is "ping, ping, ping, ping, ping, ping".

That's why I go with the motto: no victim no crime. Police have become revenue generators instead of peace keepers here in the US.

No different here in South Africa.

A few years back the Metro Police was setup to police and monitor our roads, and "keep them safe"... the only safe they have been keeping is the safe they use to store our money when they pull us over or force us into roadblocks, making us late for meetings and life, all the while lawfully stealing our money. There's no keeping us safe.

I think we are already there, sadly. Our rights are violated daily.

It could be worse...just take a look at Australia. :/

Just another example for out of control, corrupt government, sold out to corporate interests. It happens all over, gets tighter in Europe as well.

Crony capitalism is the modern day royalty. Government is the tool used to keep us enslaved.

Yeah screw the DEA and their other worthless agencies. Since when do the People need governments permission to live? People must take matters into their own hands. Support states rights and NULLIFY! Get involved :) tenthamendmentcenter.com

I've posted things by them before on our business Facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/JournalisticRevolution/

I agree states should take their power back from the feds, however, they violate rights as much as the feds. Government is the problem regardless which level it is enacted at. :)

I do agree with you. I am speaking more about states enacting legislation by the people of their home states. Each state should do what Washington state, Colorado, Alaska, DC and Oregon have done. The feds simply do not have the resources to enforce their federal laws when the states tell the feds to pound sand. Nullification is the key. Thanks!

Very true. The feds only have power because the states give it to them for federal money. Taxation is theft.

Great post. Nobody should be able to regulate what you can do with your own body. To this line: "If you follow the money you will see the alcohol and tobacco industries throwing millions into keeping cannabis illegal."
I think the existing black and gray markets for cannabis have actors with more to lose than the tobacco and alcohol industries. From what I've seen, lots of people use all three or some combination at the same time. For example, I used to only smoke cigarettes when I drank, and some of my friends smoked weed before drinking to avoid the inevitable nausea that results from over drinking, and they also smoked cigarettes while partying. The black and gray market actors in Cannabis on the other hand would be completely out of business if it was legalized for recreational use. Do you know if any research has been done on this?

When I was in the military I drank a lot but after I got out I stopped. I never smoked tobacco though. I started using cannabis to help with pain management, no longer using the Percocets that the military and VA loved to hand out. Thankfully I live in Washington State where it is now legal and I can go to a store and buy it. I will know I am free when I can take several ounces to pounds of cannabis and fly anywhere in the world and enjoy it.

They probably need to buy more marijuana businesses first then they will reclassify.

Right? Lol...
