The second generation, H247, began production in December 2019. While retaining the core characteristics of the first generation, it features a coupe-inspired styling that is slightly shorter, narrower, and taller. Despite the more compact exterior, the wheelbase was extended by 30 mm, resulting in more interior space. The second generation continues to offer petrol and diesel engines while adding Plug-In Hybrid options. Petrol engines include the GLA 200 (1.3 L), GLA 250 (2.0 L), GLA 250 4MATIC, Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC, GLA 45 4MATIC+, and GLA 45 S 4MATIC+ (all 2.0 L). Diesel engines include the GLA 180 d, GLA 200 d, GLA 200 d 4MATIC, and GLA 220 d 4MATIC (2.0 L). Mercedes-Benz also plans to introduce the GLA 250 e Plug-In Hybrid with a 1.3 L engine for environmentally conscious drivers.
