Porsche 911 development

in #car8 years ago (edited)

It all started in 1963 with the 901 which, after Peugeot complained, was changed to the 911.

This is a 2.0L version from 1965.

They moved up to 2.2L in 1969.

The ultimate 911 was the 2.7L RS.

The big change came with the type G.

A longer wheelbase provided better handling and now with a 2.7L MFi engine.

In 1978 the engine changed to a 3.0L and the new American style impact bumpers.

This one is @michelle.gent’s 1978 SC.

The new addition to the line up was the ‘Widowmaker’. A 3.3L Turbo called the 930.

This style continued through to 1989 when the 964 model was introduced.

And the 964 Turbo.

The last of the aircooled 911 came between 1995 and 1998 in the form of the 993. This I like best.

Including the awesome 993 Turbo.

Then the big change came in 1999 with the launch of the 996, the first flat six watercooled Porsche.

In 2004 an updated model is launched, the 997.

Then in 2012 the 991 is launched. Which in 2017 changed to the current models. The 991.2.

This is the 911 Turbo S Executive Model. Powered by a 3.8L engine producing 607bhp and costing £190,000. This is the top of the range standard model. Only the GT models cost more and go faster.

Which one will you spend your Steem on?

I Love Porsche.... beautifull car....great your photographey.....like your post....

Thanks for taking a look. They are great cars.

Supercool post! Automotive time travel :) The worst part of it is that every model is cool. But I guess the newer ones are a bit more comfortable.
Thanks for sharing, great shots!

The new ones are extremely good. They are very safe and quite easy to drive. I have driven the 991 GTS on a test track and it always felt safe. Including while drifting and spinning on the skid pad.

Yes, I will take that 993, in silver, please ... with a driver ... lol.

Beautiful car. One of the best aircooled.

The last one... simply beautiful. I'm not a very avid car guy, but for these I can make an exception... and grab one once STEEM reaches $100

That car is exceptional but even the base model is more than enough on the road. We can only hope :)

It is sooo pretty car! I hope you´re good 😊

They sure are. Thanks

One of the most beautiful cars of all time.

Hi Eric, they have always been my favourite car. Apart from a Bugatti Type 35 which is my favourite but impractical car.

Always had a hankering for a Porsche.

Performance cars that can be used every day, rather than popped in for repair after each trip out!

Exactly why they have lasted so well. The cars like all makes are bigger now and faster but the overall shape is still there.
