FERRARI SPECIAL PROJECTS
The supercar company that we all adore and regularly fulfilling the "Dream Car" quotient, was initially started as Alfa Romeo's racing team, but soon things changed as Enzo Ferrari joined as manager.
Today it is one of the most recognized and also sort after brands in the world, crafted through quality, performance & quality.
But there is a tier which is exclusive even for Ferrari customers, its called the FERRARI SPECIAL PROJECTS. Its Ferrari's ultimate in-house personalization service, enabling customers to own bespoke bodied one-offs based on modern Ferrari road cars.
Here is the list of those special exclusive cars launched till date.
- Ferrari SP1
The person placing the order was Mr. Junichiro Hiramatsu, a Ferrari enthusiast of Japan, who also used to be chairman of Japan's Ferrari Club.
The base car is the F430, and the body design was by none other than Leonardo Fioravanti, a man who created various legendary cars like the Dino 206/246GT, 365GTB/4 Daytona, 365GT4/BB & 512BB, 308GTB/GTS & 328GTB/GTS, as the chief stylist for Pininfarina in years past.
- Ferrari P540 Superfast Aperta
Inspired by a Luigi Chinetti-owned 330 LM used in an obscure Fellini film, the Ferrari P540 Superfast Aperta is a 599 GTB Fiorano-based one-off Pinfinarina designed for the son of the creator of cable TV. Pictures of the gold beauty below.
- Ferrari Superamerica 45
Based on a standard 599, its bespoke bodywork was specced by New York real estate magnate and Fez collector, Peter Kalikow, and includes a rotating hard-top. Just like the Renault Wind. Only made out of carbonfibre.
- Ferrari SP12 EC
A one-off supercar commissioned by Eric Clapton. Based on a 458 Italia, the new car pays homage to the 512 BB, Clapton’s favourite Ferrari, having owned three of them over the years. Designed by the ‘Centro Stile Ferrari’ in collaboration with Pininfarina and engineers from Modena, and is a truly unique proposition.
- Ferrari SP30
Cheerag Arya, who runs the family’s oil company, had the SP30 built for him, dubbed the "Arya SP" is based on the Ferrari's 599 GTO model. The carefully crafted has never made public appearance except a press release by Arya himself.
- Ferrari SP FFX
Based of the popular Ferrari FF, this design faced a leak before launch which lead speculations to it being a Ferrari California replacement/improvement. But the unveiling revealed it was for a japanese business man named Shin Okamoto[ and had the car designed by Pininfarina.
- Ferrari F12 TRS
Though two of these have showed up, we know one is for an exclusive unamed customer while the other was for Ferrari itself. Based of the F12berlinetta, the car has a Barchetta body, inspired by the Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa and designed by Centro Stile Ferrari.
- Ferrari SP America
The car was commissioned by the CEO of Wegmans, Danny Wegman. Collectively, his family has a net worth of over $3 billion. Obviously based on the F12, the Ferrari F12 SP America features thoroughly updated styling including a new front end with a new bonnet, wheel arches, front bumper and splitter, side skirts, wheels, bootlid spoiler, rear bumper, B-pillars and a new aggressive rear diffuser.
- Ferrari 458 MM Speciale
Designed in-house by the Ferrari Styling Centre, the 458 MM Speciale was built on the chassis and running gear of the 458 Speciale. Stylistically, the client was looking for extremely sporty lines and specified a ‘visor’ effect for the glasshouse: a black-painted A-pillar, very much in the style of the 1984 Ferrari GTO.
- Ferrari SP275 RW Competizione
The Ferrari SP 275 rw competizione is the definition of exclusive. Limited to one single unit, the sports car, based on the Ferrari F12berlinetta, is in homage to the late Ferrari 275GTB, the brand’s V-12–powered sports car produced between 1964 and 1968. Styled by Pininfarina, the SP 275 rw competizione incorporates 275GTB cues such as louvers carved into the rear quarter-panel aft of the window line and four vents positioned behind the front wheels.
- Ferrari J50
Though based of the 488 Spider, its hard to see any 488 Spider in the J50, because so much of the exterior was changed. Based on the Ferrari 488 Spider, the J50 was officially revealed at the National Art Center in Tokyo, and the clue to its purpose is within its name, as it celebrates 50 years of Ferrari in Japan.
