Aston Martin Vantage 2018: here it is finally!
After a long wait and many teaser images, Aston Martin finally unveils its new Vantage style particularly assertive. The new two-seater follows the DB11 as the second model of the British company's "second-century plan," according to which seven new cars will be launched in seven years. To ensure sufficient separation between models, Aston takes a bolder approach for each model.
The new Vantage is making a clean sweep of its glorious past by being entirely new, both technically and aesthetically. Aston Martin offers a decidedly modern design of its entry-level model that reflects the emphasis on direct and engaging driving.
"The design team is trying to push a lot further and show the character of each car," said designer Sam Holgate. "The Vantage wants to be the hunter. It's a car in which you want to enter and pursue a Lamborghini Huracan or a Porsche 911. "
With its very low calender grille Vulcan, its plunging bonnet and small headlights, the front seems hungry bitumen, ready to fight. The carved sidewalls receive large openings at the front wheels to reduce tire pressure and reduce drag while the curved wings add a sense of strength. The most spectacular remains the rear part of the new Vantage, dominated by a large diffuser generating support, a first for a production Aston Martin. The new Vantage has no active aerodynamics, but instead generates all its grip thanks to its low front part, its rear spoiler, its flat bottom and its diffuser.
If the style has evolved significantly, as Soufyane had very well imagined in his illustration, we still find the general lines and proportions characteristic of Aston Martin, which will not bother anyone, but this design still loses the class and elegance that was an integral part of the brand.
Modern mechanics
Under the hood, we find the 4.0-liter Mercedes-AMG V8 biturbo engine used in the DB11. It delivers 510 hp and 685 Nm of torque from 2,000 to 5,000 rpm, the same power, but a slightly higher torque (+ 10 Nm) compared to the DB11. As for performance, the Vantage runs from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of 313 km / h.
Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, with an electronic limited slip differential that provides dynamic stability control and dynamic torque vectoring modes. The new electronic rear differential, called E-Diff, is designed to make the car more stable in straight lines and corners. A manual gearbox should follow next year.
The frame is based on the same bonded aluminum structure used by the DB11 allowing a dry weight of 1,530 kg. It is equipped with a double-wishbone suspension on the front and a multi-link suspension on the rear. The damping can be adaptive with three different modes: Sport, Sport Plus and Track.
The 2018 Aston Martin Vantage is based on 20-inch wheels, featuring specially developed Pirelli P Zero tires, behind which 400 and 360 mm steel brake discs are located at the front and rear, respectively.
Luxurious and sporty interior
The interior of the new Vantage is inspired by exterior design, with a driver-focused layout that combines rotary and rocker controls. "It's very different from our traditional layout, with a lot more emotion. It's more of a cockpit sensation, "said Holgate. "We tried to keep the analog look with the switches, especially the rocker switches. "
As standard, we find an interior leather and alcantara, with a black leather steering wheel. The Vantage also features a standard 8.0-inch display with an infotainment system based on Mercedes.
Finally, the new Aston Martin has a generous 350 liters trunk to go on a very long weekend.

Looks much like the Lexus LC500 at the rear at least and all in all i d say that the LC is a bigger grade automotive theater. Almost everything makes this Vantage to look a little too late a little behind from the stunning LC500 coupe on the road and on the paper. The LC is also supremely accommodating, with a sumptuous interior and all this for the half price of the Vantage.
