Exploring the Cathedral

in #cathedral8 days ago

Cumana has a unique feature: the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was built very close by—about two blocks away—from the Basilica of Saint Ines, the city’s oldest Catholic church, Although construction on the Cathedral began in 1745, it was not until 1936 that it was inaugurated as a Catholic place of worship, whereas the Basilica of Saint Ines has remained in use since 1862. Both buildings are impressive, but today I wanted to explore the Cathedral’s classical architecture in greater depth
