Never heard of Waze...
I still have Garmin and some low budget English navigation system. It was bought with old cards and should be updated but we never managed to do that for some reason it is impossible and the customer service keeps silent.
The benefit is Google is not informed where we are heading and the phone iy's battery isn't drained plus not internet needed. Still do not have it only phone.
I agree, Google maps does not inform and is battery thirsty both Google and Waze. Garmin was not cheap either and needed software upgrade and update each time. I use Waze more now but now there are new policies to use it. Need to look for alternative now.

Battery thirsty indeed + noisy and digging in your phone checking everything and most likely taking selfies of you every few minutes...
Yes UVF is like SBI but it also votes on comments unlike SBI.
Dang.. that is a scary thought - the selfies - and I don't doubt that. Might as well just get lost and find my way eventually.
You will find your way. There was a time we did without and rarely got lost. You can cover your cam/selfie camera like I do.
Do you use a sticker?
Yah I got lost many times even with the navigators. Can’t seem to be able to tell which road it is showing when there is a fork of 2 or 3 roads haha
It’s just a piece of paper with sticky tape over it, but I’ve also used medical plaster on occasion, and sometimes it’s just a bit of thicker paper/card that I fold over and tuck between the back of the case.
Strangely enough, I often find my way, but when I’m almost home, I get lost.
I’d better not tell you about the experience I had with friends who were using the sat-nav and how long we ended up wandering or driving in circles. In any case, it makes people less alert, and in that respect too, the brain gets less practice in navigating and recognising landmarks whilst on the move. Another brain killer and more dumb people.
