A Colorful Sunday Stroll in Old Phuket Town ๐น๐ญ๐๐ถโโ๏ธ

Hello everyone ๐
It had been many months since my last visit to Old Phuket Town, as I was often traveling to Tak Province to visit my mother and younger sister. This past Sunday, I finally had some free time and decided to take a stroll through the Old Town once again.
I planned to go in the afternoon, before the famous Lard Yai Market sets up in the evening. I wanted to experience both the quiet atmosphere before the market and the lively vibe once the market began. Usually, I visit Old Town in the early morning after dropping off my son at school, when the streets are peaceful and most of the shops and restaurants are still closed.
But this time was different โ I went on a Sunday afternoon, when the area was already bustling with tourists, as the evening market was about to begin. It felt so nice to see the town so full of life again! โจ

This month is known as Pride Month, a time to celebrate diversity and inclusion. Around this time, Old Phuket Town is often decorated โ especially at the iconic yellow clock tower, a well-known symbol of the area.
This year, the tower was beautifully wrapped with rainbow-colored ribbons, with a heart placed at the center. There was also a cute bunny statue dressed up with colorful ribbons too ๐ฐ๐. In few days, there will be a Pride Parade held here, and I really hope Iโll be able to go and watch the parade this year! ๐

At the fountain roundabout, the decorations also reflected the Pride Month spirit โ the Ah-Mui mascot was dressed in a colorful outfit too! ๐โจ It brought such a cheerful vibe to the area. I continued walking around, really enjoying the festive atmosphere.

Old Phuket Town is always full of interesting sights โ from the beautiful Sino-Portuguese architecture to the colorful street art on the walls. There are so many great spots for taking photos ๐ธ โ you can easily spend hours just exploring and capturing the charm of this area!

You can also find small hidden shrines tucked away in the Old Town. Many tourists stop by to pay their respects and take photos. Itโs another little detail that adds to the charm and cultural richness of this area. ๐โจ

By around 3 PM, the vendors began setting up their stalls along the street. Little by little, the market came to life. Many tourists were already out strolling, browsing, and doing some shopping ๐๏ธ โ the lively atmosphere was really starting to build!

Besides food and clothing, the market also offers a variety of handmade souvenirs. One item that caught my eye was beautiful artwork painted on coconut shells ๐ฅฅ๐จ โ a true craft that requires great skill and creativity. Itโs always nice to see local artisans sharing their talent here!

As the afternoon turned to evening, more and more tourists began to fill the market streets. The atmosphere was getting livelier with each passing moment, with people walking, shopping, and simply enjoying the vibrant scene. ๐ฎโจ

Old Phuket Town is the historical heart of Phuket Town, known for its beautiful Sino-Portuguese architecture, colorful old shophouses, charming cafรฉs, museums, and boutique stores. Walking around here feels like stepping into the past. The area reflects Phuketโs rich cultural blend of Thai, Chinese, and European influences.
Lard Yai (เธซเธฅเธฒเธเนเธซเธเน), or Phuket Sunday Street Market, takes place every Sunday evening on Thalang Road in the Old Town. The street is closed to traffic and becomes a bustling market filled with food stalls, handmade crafts, street performances, and locals and tourists enjoying the lively atmosphere. The market is a must-visit for anyone exploring Phuket Town โ you can taste local snacks, buy souvenirs, and experience the warm local vibe.
