A Short Walk in Teruel
Hello everyone. Today I’d like to talk about my visit to Teruel on a foggy day. It is located in the autonomous community of Aragon. We were curious to wander around a bit and see what we could discover. At the entrance, there is an interesting staircase. The Mudejar style is especially widespread in Teruel and the Arab heritage is clearly felt. We went up this staircase toward the central part of the city. Here you’ll find La Escalinata Park, which is close to the Teruel train station.
I can say that the Spanish winter feels more like autumn. The trees have turned yellow and the leaves are slowly falling. Overall, it looks much more like the autumn we know, yet it is still winter. When we went a little higher, there was a general view of the city. On the day we visited, Teruel was foggy.
We started walking through the streets. Teruel has a population of around 37,000. The famous towers here are all in the Mudejar style, as you can see. The narrow streets in the city center are paved with stone. It’s a bit chilly. Teruel is a city located in the interior of Spain and is known for having quite cold winters by Spanish standards. Snowfall and similar conditions are quite possible here.
We reached the main square. There is a Christmas tree here, made of real branches. There is also a small tourist train that takes a city tour, which you can ride to get around. People are out and about. Some are wearing beanies, others are dressed differently. There are cafés right here as well. This is a central spot.
As for the cuisine, Teruel is especially famous for its ham (jamón). In my opinion, the most delicious ham is produced in this province. So I particularly recommend Teruel ham to those who enjoy it.
We also took the small train tour and started exploring the city. Chinese tourists were waving at us from here. We continued our journey through the narrow streets. During this time, the weather cleared up a bit and the sun came out.
Then we returned to the main square again and later arrived at another square with a small fountain. Here, too, you can see interesting buildings. There are many historical structures from different periods and eras. That’s why the city is truly interesting. I definitely recommend a visit to those who haven’t been here before. If you come in winter, dress warmly. In summer, it gets very hot. In my opinion, the ideal times to visit are autumn or spring.
That’s all from me for today. We took a short walk in Teruel.
I wish you all the very best. Hope to see you on new journeys. See you soon. 👋
