Little Sister’s Shopping Mission
Hello dear friends,
I hope you all are doing well and spending a beautiful life with your loved ones. I wish you all happiness and peace.
For the past 20–25 days, my younger sister Mukta has been staying with us. Since she is the youngest in our family, everyone has a special kind of love and affection for her. But these days seemed to pass in the blink of an eye. A few days ago, her school reopened, and she wanted to return home quickly. She didn’t want to miss school anymore. Seeing this sense of responsibility truly made me happy.
I thought, since she spent so many days with us, I should send her off with a sweet memory. So, I decided to take her shopping. As Friday is the weekly holiday in our local markets, I left work early on Thursday at 5 p.m. and headed out. I had already informed my family to be ready and meet me at the station.
Near our house, there’s a big shopping center called French Market. This market is famous for three-piece suits, abayas, fabrics, and everything else women need. We first went to the ground floor’s three-piece section. Mukta loves georgette three-pieces. After visiting several shops, she chose two sets of the same design but in different colors. When I asked the price, the shopkeeper said 3,500 taka each.
In my mind, I decided to bargain. I started at 1,500 taka. At first, the seller refused, but eventually, I managed to get one piece for 2,000 taka. Mukta was happy, and so was I.
Next, we went upstairs to the abaya section. Mukta wanted a modern, new-design double-part poki abaya with a koti style. I knew it wouldn’t be easy to find. At one shop, we found exactly that design, bargained, and bought it. But then I noticed a stain on it! Worse, it was their only piece. So, our search began again.
We then headed to another market. After nearly an hour of searching, we finally discovered a shop called Mayer Achol (“Mother’s Embrace”). There, we found exactly what Mukta wanted. The seller asked for 3,500 taka, but after bargaining, I got it for 1,750 taka.
After finishing our shopping, we went to our favorite fuchka (pani puri) stall. Mukta and the rest of my family absolutely love fuchka. We enjoyed fuchka and then chotpoti. After that, we took an auto-rickshaw and headed home.
After a long day at the office, so much walking around was truly exhausting. But seeing Mukta’s smile and her satisfaction, all the tiredness disappeared. The happiness hidden in family, love, and small moments—that’s what today proved once again.
Spending time with children and giving importance to their wishes is a real joy. In our busy lives, days like this make our relationships even deeper. For Mukta, today was very special, but for me, it will remain just as memorable.
Thanks all
