Stick insect: a branch with a life of its own
Stick insect: a branch with a life of its own
This impressive stick insect was lurking among the branches of a tree, and I immediately grabbed my tablet's camera (at the time) and proceeded to capture it in photos and videos.

Despite their size, these insects are peaceful creatures that depend entirely on going unnoticed to survive.
Seeing it on the palm of my hand allows me to appreciate its scale; it's a beautiful creation that invites us to be more attentive to the natural life that comes into our homes.
Description:
Due to its size, which exceeds 20 cm, this specimen likely belongs to the Phasmatidae family. These are "giants" compared to other stick insects.

They are phytophagous animals, meaning they feed on leaves and sap, which is why they are commonly found in patios and gardens.
Another characteristic is that they are masters of mimicry; Their cylindrical bodies and very thin legs are perfectly adapted to mimic the branches and stems of the surrounding vegetation, allowing them to be virtually invisible to predators
