8/5/2026 my story : flowers and food.
Hello all lovely friends.
How are you all doing, friends? Hope you're all well. Lately, everything, from the weather to the economy, seems to have changed a lot, and for the worse, but life goes on. This morning, I'm continuing with my usual routine, spending time with my family and doing my familiar tasks. It's been raining frequently in the mornings lately, but around 7:00 AM, the rain usually stops or isn't as heavy. After dropping the kids off, I have some time to myself. On the way home, I enjoy the birds, the trees, and the flowers by my neighbors' fences – a little something to make each day a happy one.
The flowers along the fence next to my neighbor's house are beautiful ornamental plants of various species. Today I saw bougainvillea, also known as paper bougainvillea. My neighbor planted two colors, white and light pink. Sometimes I see darker pink flowers mixed in, and I'm not sure if it's a mutation or a genetic defect. This type of flower is quite hardy. I enjoyed admiring the flowers for a while, but then it was time to go home. Sometimes after this, I also go for a walk around the neighborhood for exercise; it's not too far, but it still makes me sweat. When I get home, I'll have to do the housework.
It's evening, time for dinner! Tonight's meal is a few simple dishes, mostly vegetables. My first dish is stir-fried Chinese cabbage. My second dish is steamed okra topped with pork stir-fried in oyster sauce. My daughter loves this dish, and I enjoy it just as much. I know okra is nutritious, so I don't choose overly mature okra because it's at its most palatable and sweetest. I steam it instead of boiling to prevent the okra from releasing too much tough sap. I finely chop the pork, stir-fry it with garlic in hot oil, then add water, oyster sauce, sugar, and a little soy sauce, adjusting the taste to my liking. Then I pour this over the steamed okra. When serving, we cut the okra and the pork stir-fried in oyster sauce; the result is a sweet, savory, and slightly creamy flavor with a delightful texture from the okra. This dish gets 5 stars from my family!
The last menu item is stir-fried pork with chili paste, a very favorite. Just this one dish is enough to enjoy with hot rice and fresh vegetables as a side dish – it's incredibly delicious! I guarantee it. The preparation isn't complicated at all. Finely chop the pork and set aside. Then, heat a pan, add oil, sauté the garlic, and then add the chopped pork. Stir-fry until slightly fragrant, then add the chili powder. Stir for a while, then add fish sauce, sugar, or a little MSG if desired. Next, add a little water to create a slightly saucy consistency – not too much. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. Before turning off the heat, squeeze in a little lime juice for a touch of sourness – not too sour, as that will ruin the taste. That's it! That's all for today's menu, but it made the kids and everyone in the house enjoy it immensely, especially my husband, who ate two plates of rice! And that's my cooking story for today. What about you, friends? Do you have anything to share? Don't forget to comment below. See you in the next article. Bye for now!
