1.Location and Background

Bir Chattala is a popular restaurant in Chittagong. The restaurant is decorated in a traditional rural atmosphere of Chittagong. It is located at 87 Shahid Saifuddin Khaled Road (Opposite Aquarium Park), Jamalkhan, Chittagong. Since it is next to the main road, anyone can easily go there using rickshaws, bikes, CNG. Fortunately, the restaurant was renovated and inaugurated on the same day I went to the restaurant.

2.Attractive internal decoration

The first thing that attracts everyone after entering the restaurant is the decoration of this restaurant. Basically, an attempt has been made to portray the traditional culture of Chittagong in its different corners. The restaurant has two parts, indoor and outdoor.

Anyone can enjoy their food sitting indoors or outdoors as they wish. The aesthetic decoration of the restaurant is the reason for its popularity and there is always a crowd in the restaurant, although the staff on duty tries to serve the customers sincerely even in this crowd.

The indoor decoration features various traditional paintings of Chittagong. Another interesting aspect of the restaurant is the traditional culture of the nineties such as CD players, cassettes, and various authentic items. The rhythms of some popular songs have been depicted in the decoration of the restaurant. The indoor section is fully air-conditioned.There is a good arrangement for washing hands after entering this restaurant. There is also a touch of aesthetics. Another thing that I liked is that there is a separate washroom for men and women.

In the outdoor section, you can enjoy your meal in a rural environment. It is beautifully decorated with various types of trees and shrubs. Moreover, like the indoor set, the outdoor section also has a hand washing facility. What I liked the most about the outdoor section was seeing some colorful fish including Kachuripana inside a large pot.

People mainly go to Bir Chattala restaurant to enjoy traditional and local food of Chittagong. However, the taste of the food in this restaurant is a little different compared to other restaurants. I tried Kachchi Biryani here once. The amount of spice in Kachchi Biryani here is a little less compared to other restaurants.

The dishes mentioned in the menu are beautifully arranged next to the kitchen of the restaurant. If anyone wants, they can order the dishes as per their wish. The food is served immediately after ordering. I have tried some of the stuffed items here. However, the shrimp stuffed fish test seemed a bit bad to me. Among the other stuffed fish, I liked the laitta stuffed fish, taki stuffed fish, eggplant stuffed fish, and lentil stuffed fish.I also found the filling amount to be sufficient for the price.

I found the price of the food to be quite suitable for the quality and quantity of the food. There are modern banking systems such as bKash Nagad to pay the food bill.

Another great surprise of the restaurant is that there is a tea stall next to the entry gate of the restaurant. Where special Malai tea and various types of milkshakes, iced drinks, Falooda, Lassi and snacks items are available. You can get service from this stall on a pay first basis. I tried their Malai tea and liked it.

6.My opinion

I liked the service, atmosphere and food overall in this restaurant. If someone wants to relive the rural atmosphere and childhood (90s) memories, then they will get it all here. If you want to taste various traditional authentic dishes of Chittagong like Mejbani beef, Kala Bhuna, Chanar Dal, Laitta fish fry, Rupchanda fry and different types of Bharta, this restaurant can be a best option. Those who come to this restaurant from outside Chittagong will be able to learn about the different cultures of Chittagong.
