7th Meet Up of Steemit Cebu - The fastest growing sub-community in Steemit. Teachings and Insights and Reaching 200 Members

in #cebu7 years ago

We are hitting Cebu by storm, we are the storm!

I have seen this before and envisioned it that someday, "We will become a big community composed of pleasing and talented individuals!" and that dream came into reality when we, the @steemph.cebu conducted the 7th Steemit Cebu Meet-Up on February 4, 2018. I never expected that there would be more than a hundred attendees in the said meet-up, 60% of them are existing users but still bears little knowledge about the platform and 40% are newbies which accounts are still on the process of verification and so on.

I consider Steemit Cebu as one of the fastest growing sub-community in Steemit because of the dedication of the core leaders of the @steemph.cebu to make a healthy community of steemians in the region with well-rounded individuals that have some unique talents to offer and services to employ. We are still on infancy stages and thus we will strive more to success, for everyone in the community and for Steemit Inc.

From the previous meet-up, 6th Cebu Meet-UP that I missed big time, the recorded attendees were more than 50 but this latest Meet-up recorded and outstanding 110 attendees (as counted by @fernwehninja). From pack of student-steemians to working-steemians to full-time steemians, it was overwhelming to see that we are united is such activity, in helping one another to learn new things about steemit like tips and techniques in showcasing your skills and talents.

I have interacted to some steemians working in various kind of industry. We had engineers and company supervisor. We also had teachers and professors. Those were steemians who think that steemit is way to express their skills and talents out of their comfort zone like working. But what really motivates me to help those attendees were the hopeful faces of ordinary people attending the meet-up and their eagerness to learn and to listen to the discussion about monetizing steemit. A friend of mine once said, "There's opportunity in Steemit" so I'm giving the favor back by flourishing the good of steemit to my fellow whether a blogger or not that steemit is a way to monetize your daily activities and your personal thoughts in life. That not like any other social media where you gain nothing out of your brilliant ideas shared worldwide.

The meet-up was held at Marrise Pattiserei. A pastry shop for private and public individuals and sometime offers exclusive reservation for events like this. It was a moderate scenic place to held meaningful and memorable gatherings. They provide food for pastry and coffee lovers. A funny moment that I experienced was that I asked for a roasted chicken meal with rice from a pastry shop. I'm really hungry when I arrived at the venue.

Filipinos love the idea about socializing or interacting to some interesting people all around. So time to time, Cebuano users will expound the level of social interaction to anyone who engaged himself/herself in the platform and to anyone who will be engaging. Expect for more meet-ups as we are increasingly growing in the community. Demand for such events will be improving also because a lot of new ideas will be gathered and information be shared to newcomers and to curious existing users.

Down to what is the purpose of the meet-up, @steemph.cebu established groupings for newcomers and for existing users. @jassennessaj and I were assigned to talk more about the technicalities of steemit. @jassennessaj went on things that are essential for the growth of every users in steemit. He explained further about what is steemit and shared some of his experiences in the platform.

I dug to the deepest information I knew about steemit. I also shared my experiences as an early adopter of the revolutionary blockchain based social media. I discussed more about the techinical side of platform like where does the money come from, what is the bandwidth limit that some users experienced in the past days or weeks, what is utopian and curie community, what are those amazing steem related apps like the steepshot, zappl, dmani, dtube, dlive and dsound, what does it take to be recognize by the curie community and what should be contributed to the utopian.

I also discussed about the steem witnesses and their importance in the community. There are a lot of things I discussed on them though it was tough to explain what I was able to digest during the entire time of my steemit career and to present, I'm pretty sure I did my best to give them the full equipment to build their way to the top of steemit.

Some things we discussed in the meetup are:

  • What is steemit
  • What is blockchain
  • What is steem, steem power and steem backed-dollars
  • What is steem witnesses
  • What are the steem related apps of steemit
  • What are the communities of steemit and their importance
  • Sharing some experiences and many more

A big Thank You!

Ganahan kaayo ko sa balancer of good and evil. Sa tanan nimo gipanulti, kana gyud ang nitatak kay nagwonder ko unsa imo role na imo gimean. If evil is rampant, will you be the good and bearer of light? What if the good dominates? What is your role then?

Joke ra na. Hahaha. Congrats to the greatest steemian in Cebu. You have been my teacher since I was included in your group and you will always be that teacher to me. You are way beyond your age. Many people look up to you, not because of your words, but because of your actions. I owe my steemit growth greatly to you!

Hilak sanggot

Well, my role is to balance the two. Not within other soul but to mine. Evil in a sense that one can't be as perfect as our Creator and His son, everyone makes a mistake for once in their lifetime. Evil in a sense that makes us human a human being, a rational one, so one possesses the right will but still bears the evil will. And thus help us human distinguished what's right from wrong. And if I can balance myself, so as with my relationship with other people including you. ;)

Gidibdib lagi. That's the reason why you're beyond your ordinary time. I never thought that kind of principle and I haven't heard from anyone either. Push mo yan!

Wow. Steemians of Cebu City are so very active! Keep it up guys. I wish I lcan be there at Cebu, my ancestors do but I grew up here at QC.

Cebu seems like epicenter of steemit sometimes.no wonder I come across the name one or the other day on this platform.it feels like steemit has most following from this city itself compare to other cities.

Thank you @themanualbot for the support. <3 Steemit is the only community promoting camaraderie - turning online friends to personal friends. It is creating connections that are not just superficially online but its heart-deep. Kampai!

Kanindot ninyu sir @the manualbot oi.. ii hope next time the 8th meet up makaapil na tawun ko ky na busy ko that day. Congratulations guyz! Big blessings of all. Keep steeming.

Hahaha. Nahutdan na silag manok @themanualbot or wala pa sila ka dakop maong wala silay roasted chicken. Hahaha.

Lahi say ato, salamat kaayo ninyo boss sa pagtabang. So true that steemit is not like any other social media we gain nothing from our original and brilliant ideas (kana kung naa pa ko) hahaha 👍👍👍👍

Steemphcebu wouldn't get to this point if it weren't for you, @themanualbot. You paved the way for all of us. Thank you for letting us stand on your shoulders.

I've only heard of steemit two weeks ago from a co-student here in Cebu. I now hoped I'd discovered steemit prior to this event so I could have gained not only insight but also friends. If it's not asking much, how may I join? :)
