Entry # 2 Chickens Can Swim
During the pandemic, I saw a vlogger bragging about her chicken pet in a backpack. I find the idea very silly having been brought up at the mere knowledge that chickens are meant mainly for food.
For three years now, I am the new laughingstock in town since I ended having a chicken pet. A lot of them thought I am keeping one for bird gambling. It also didn't cross most of these people's minds that chickens can be interesting and endearing in many ways possible just like the rest of the animlas that are commonly acknowledged as pets.
Moreover, I thought that having a pet isn't for me considering my mobile lifestyle (solo backpacker prior to the pandemic) as a freelancer hopping at every coastal town for diving.
And so I thought that if dogs and cats can swim, maybe I can also liken my chicken pet to a duck that can merrily swim and we can both have a good time. And boy, I was right at the idea that they can really swim! It was fun but I realized something the last time I went out to swim with my pet - chicken can also get a sunburn at its comb.
But since at the moment, I would rather relish at the happy thought, maybe it will be some other time that I will explain about the chicken sunburn thingy.
So yes, you can swim with a chicken but be wise not to expose them in extreme sun exposure.
As for the picture, this was the last time I swam with my chicken pet during the summertime season in my country where temperatures are ranging from 31° to 43°C during daytime. I thought I can relieve my pet's discomforts with the heat but learned something important 20 minutes after frolicking with it at sea. Luckily, her sunburn wasn't bad and she is generally OK at the moment.
