The Chicken Story
When we moved from Edmonton, my parents wanted to get away from living in the city where the houses are three feet away from each other! First we moved to the west coast and we ended up on the east coast. We lived in our trailer for a little while, and after a little bit, we moved into a little house on Peggy's Cove road.
After a year of living here, we got a rooster named Cider form one of our friends. They didn't want him anymore for some reason so we took him to be nice. We had just him for about three or four months before we got some hens. The same person bought some factory farm hens and gave us eight of them. Our landlords friends dog attacked one of them and it died. (This whole factory farm thing happened when I was in B.C so it was good for me) When I got back, we decided to get a couple more chickens so we bought a mama hen and 6 chicks of someone and half were roosters and the other half were hens. When the mama hen wen't unbroody, Cider nearly mated her to death so we had to get rid of him. At the same time, 2 of mamas male children were being not nice too so we got rid of all the roosters but one. Mr. Pendock was the only roo left.
Our whole family was debating about getting rid of him too but my youngest brother, Stryder said he would kill all of us if we did it so we kept him (he was 4 by the way). So as he grew up, the other hens did too, and that is when Wing Boots, Grace and Sonic came into the game. They all lay cool eggs and they are pretty nice. Wing boots is one of the smallest full grown chickens, I have ever seen, she is like the same size as my head and her head is the size as a quarter! She will walk up to you and let you pick her up or pet her. Grace and Sonic are scarred of humans so they don't get picked up much.
After Pendock started mating everyone, Wing Boots, Big Mama, Sonic and Grace all went broody and hatched a crap ton of chicks! After they all grew up, we got some more favorites. That's when Dawn King, Fluffy, Hendrix and Big Smoke were introduced. Like all the other ones, they grew up. A bunch of the chickens had to go. But we were left with a bunch of good ones. Smoke is Mr.Pendock's right hand man and the other three are the roosters and my favorites.
Again, Wing Boots, Grace Big Mama and Sonic all went broody and hatched a bunch more chicks and we ended up with like 30 little chicks. Now there sorta getting bigger and we have already had to get rid of some roosters. The latest time this happened was only mama, Grace and Sonic. Only Graces eggs hatched and the other ones thought they were still on eggs even though they weren't. So we put them up on there sleeping perches for a couple of nights and they are normal now.
This was a pretty long post and has quite a lot of pictures, tell me how I did and cya next time!

I never named my chickens.. unless it was Breakfast Lunch or Dinner
You just name the darling hens who lay the eggs and hatch your new chicks and their rooster, but food animals probably not a good idea ;)
What I was growing up on the farm we named all the animals even the cows we plan on butchering ..When it was my turn I would usually pick something like T bone or Hamburgular
I absolutely love clicking POST in the middle of a thought... the chickens were the only animal we didn't name.. in hindsight it does seem strange that they would bee left out... I even had a goose named Wilbur... but not one chick ever got a name
Hahaha,lol
You did good mate and it always gets easier and better as you post more! You explained the story about your chickens and roosters well and showed your excitement and how happy you are on the matter. 😃
Thanks man!!
Yes, you did very good! It's interesting how you ended up with lots of funky named chicken. I see that you know your chickens very well that Smoke is Mr.Pendock's right hand man! So funny!!

Just waving to Mr. Pendock!
He says hello
I am kind of partial to Dawn King myself! Your post was good. You have a lot of roosters hatching. Not much you can do about that. Well maybe put them in the CrockPot! Keep writing . I like your posts. 🐓🐓
