How to Teach Your Kid So He Can Express His Opinion Politely

in #child5 years ago (edited)

There are three types of an opinion expressed by a kid. They are passive, aggressive, and assertive.

Passive: I'm Not OK. You're OK.
Aggressive: I’m OK, You’re Not OK.
Assertive: I'm OK. You're OK.

A passive kid is not able to express his opinion well. He also agrees or follows an opinion of others. In addition, he considers that his opinion may not affect a group.

An aggressive kid is able to express his opinion, but the way is not right. This method contains an insult. This method certainly attacks or hurts other people's feeling. They become intimidated or uncomfortable.

An assertive kid is able to express his opinion well and politely. His opinion can be accepted by others. They are not intimidated by the opinion.

You must teach your kid to be assertive. I have four tips to make him assertive. The four tips are as follows.

First, you must educate him so that he becomes critical. The trick is telling him something. It is certainly meaningful. You also have to educate him so that he contributes to his environment. The trick is teaching him something. For example, throwing garbage in a trash and queuing habit.

Second, you should never frighten him by using something illogical. For example, "you shouldn't play in a dark place because there is bad grandmother in a dark place" and "you shouldn't be naughty because a bad boy will be bitten by a cat". You may scare your kid by using something logical. For instance, "you don't run because you can fall".

Third, you must be a good listener when he is talking. This is important for him. Because he wants his words to be heard by you. If you listen to his words, he will be confident in his words. You must also respond to his words. You must show that you are enthusiastic about what he is saying. In addition, you should not scold him if he is fussy. If you do that, he will not be confident in what he says.

Fourth, you must teach him good manners. The trick is becoming a good role model. You can't say rude. You should say "sorry" if you make a mistake. You also have to say "excuse me" if you want to walk in front of other people. In addition, you should say "thank you" if you get something from someone else. You must do these things in front of your kid. You also have to pay attention to his friends. You must ensure that his friends have courtesy. If his friends often say disrespectfully, he will also say disrespectful. Because he mimics behaviors of his friends. So, he must have friends who behave politely.
