Basically, the fact that Beijing is even reporting on the subject at all, tells me that it has not reached the point where they feel a need to cover it up. When Beijing covers things, they don't do it halfway or casually.
The problem (and I mentioned this in my earlier article about it) is that when it does get out of hand, Beijing will cover it up like they did with the 2003 SARS outbreak, and no one will know anything is wrong except for the travel restrictions and sudden police blockades everywhere.
